I also like to say I heard 18 speakers in the last 2 months all bookshelf speakers apart from a pair of Spendors and none of them do what the Evo do. All a good bit cheaper apart from the BMW I heard which came closest but still not close enough.

Well my system is now as simplified as it has ever been. I no longer have the Isobarek Neo plumbed in. So no Behringer either. I just have a DAC I stream YouTube via Bluetooth these days as cutting down on subscriptions and via Bluetooth I really enjoy the sound quality of YouTube. I miss the discovery of music but may go back to Spotify at some point, At present I have no real plans for the system. Perhaps next year the new Mutec with Bluetooth or a Rockna Wavelight as an end game DAC

Just a quick update The new gear has settled in, and I could not be happier with how the system is sounding.

Well, a few system changes. I moved on the audio gd di20he With the A22 it was at times a bit to smooth for me. I also moved on the a22 which Brett has bought and having Tony work his magic on it. The R26 is a great sounding DAC as Clive suggests it gives this wonderful sense of flow to the music, that is effortless to listen too. I really do think I need to enjoy the system just as it is and not make changes for a good 6 months Then like Jules I be looking for a new power amplifier and perhaps a clock. My journey with DDC's is interesting, most change the balance of the system. The U18 was too forward in my system, other systems this might be a good thing but for me no. The di20he it kind of dose the opposite, gives more depth but on my system takes away a bit of the excitement I need. Yet again this might be exactly what someone needs, but ultimately was not for me. I would need to hear the mutec again to judge if it did the same in my system as my system with the A3 has changed a lot since I used one. I have become ultra fussy with tonality and timbre, but also wanting plenty of dynamics. Its not a easy combination to pull off.

Too right, John. Getting the system balance right for us is a tricky undertaking and there are many dead ends (some of which I've taken). Interesting that you have developed your preferences in a different direction from mine. Truth is, I value all good attributes but I still love definition, slam and dynamics as well as deep, tight and textured bass. However, I have come to appreciate soundstage and especially note decay a lot more of late, and that is the direction my system has moved in.
Our solutions have also diverged. You have moved towards a Resistor to Resistor ladder DAC while I prefer Delta-Sigma modulation. It's going to be interesting listening to each other's system in future as there was a time when they had quite similar attributes.

Yes agree. The system has plenty of slam. Not on your levels. Taking the time to find the right speakers for me has been key to all of this. No regrets about moving away from chip-based DACs

Sound totally logical that it would clean things up, almost a DDC for ethernet.

Another one that sounds bonkers but if it sounds better then great [br As it optical rather than a direct cable the electrical noise on the system is greatly reduced

Nice, John. Optical links are the way to go to cut noise.
