I imagine its pretty settled in now Mike . I do think the Furutech was creating some ground issues that now seem sorted

Good result though, John.
Is Vic's system all digital?
The delayed effects of grounding boxes can be maddening. It makes me not want to touch anything so that I preserve the sound quality I'm getting. My next Aucharm is now in the UK. Swift work as usual by the Chinese.

Vic still has a turntable and like me also uses BT5 on a SMSL M400 a cracking DAC that with his DEQX that works as pre, He actually manages to get away without the need to ground as just sounds good without it. The only real difference is my system has more slam his system has better bass and a bit more spacious in sound stage. I agree about the delay affects you cannot really swap in and out so was not possible to test properly in a short time and you need to rely on your audio memory. It be interesting what the Aucharm will do with the external clocks In the digital domain purity of signal is everything.

My friend has ben trying quite a few bookshelves speakers. To be honest I was hoping nothing would come of this.....However After a few days of Vic raving I knew I needed to try them. I could always return and would make back any money if I decide to sell my current speakers.
Some clues They are extremely well made heavier than than the Klipsch 500m but smaller and use offset tweeters to minimise wave cancelations and offer a precise soundstage. They scale quite well and go surprisingly low in my room
More details to come

It can be a bit of a pain setting up in my system. I have to play with crossover with my subs. Thankfully I can do this whilst listening. I also have to adjust volume on the Behringer to match the volume I am using on the new speakers. So it can take time to get right and initially it sounds awful.

The speakers are heavier and smaller than the Klipsch Well made for their price.
So how does it sound? The bass has quite a lot of impact. Most people could get away without using bass. I think the bookshelf speakers have come a long way since I had the Jamo Concert 8 or the Silverline SR17 in my system. Bass punches well I even prefer this to the Klipsch, which I still think does a good job; however, it's the mids where they are open. There is a coherence to how it ebbs and flows. I would never have guessed that a small speaker could be so effortless. You have to remember I had a 15-inch duel concentrated and multiple line array drivers in the past At times my room shakes with low notes, but the bass has the texture and timbre I demand A total surprise but fascinating none the less

They remind me of the De Capra Ref 3a monitors not quite in the same ball park, but that ease they both have

Monitor Audio Silver 100 7g review This are mid priced bookshelf speakers that can perform at higher level than the price would suggest. End game speakers for me I doubt it. However, they will keep me happy. Set up In my room the bass can start to overtake the mids with these speakers. Using the suppled ports still caused different issues to the mids, partially blocking provided the balance I was seeking. I read a review where the reviewer complained the bass could take over and this was my experience until partially blocking the speaker ports. I think rooms can play a part in this. I tend to see speakers at the heart of a system, get them right and you can build up the system. My other thought is just how much modern speakers have improved. No speaker is the best it just a case does it best fit your own preferences and needs. What I like about a good modern speaker is how they punch with kick drums and Timpari that I enjoy if on the recording. Its kind of the energy of the music. I also enjoy timbre of Instruments and a sense of effortless dynamics but sounding natural. The MA 100 do that all well. The treble is clean yet detailed. I do not really need the lows Martin gets as not a into that really deep bass, so I can get away with a smaller speaker.

I totally agree about finding the right speakers for your room and ears and then building the rest of the system around them. However, like the numpty I am I have done the exact opposite - well kind of. The diy speakers have only fallen in to place quite recently and the sources and amps sound very good so I won't be doing any swaps in that area.
I had a look at those 100 7g speakers and I like the aesthetics. I have no idea if they would do it for me but I have a pair of little Mordaunt Short stand mounts with a continuous cone mid bass similar to the one on the MA. They have a 8" though and mine are 5.25" aluminum cone. It does take a bit of getting used to a driver with no dust cap and a continouss cone covering the voice coil assembly. I like the look of them though - less fussy.
I never really loved my MS speakers as they put a 1st order low pass on the mid bass and aluminum has quite nasty break up modes. The 1"dome tweeter was 1st order high pass and they don't work with 1st order - a distortion party. I tried doping those 5.25" mid bass and it went horribly wrong. I even took a chainsaw to the cabinet and that didn't help either.
Sorry, I just talked about me when we should be talking about those MA. I like the idea of an 8" mid bass. Does it go well with a dome tweeter (directivity) ?

A quick update I added some temporary diy bass traps No need to block ports now so was the speakers in the room. Better mids too

It is about time I updated my diagram The system a lot simpler for sure pretty much apart from using Bluetooth a standard HiFi system I sometimes miss a bit of the bass timbre I had the MA are just not as good that way. But mids and treble is better. layout 1 by
