We haven't had any Cohen before, so for those of you who haven't been lucky enough to listen to this it will be a real treat! 'You Want It Darker' is Cohen's 14th and last album and IMO one of his best. Unlike many artists, his creativity didn't tail off as he got older. I rate his lyrics above almost any other writer. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/You_Want_It_Darker

What an absolutely fab choice, Lawrence. It has been on my regular playlist since I got it for Christmas. A stunning valedictory release, saying everything that he had left to say. The man was a god of well crafted songs and his deep gravelly voice betrays his age here, but not his state of mind. Chokingly beautiful in parts, he sang it all sitting down in his home because he was too sick to be moved. It has to be 10/10 from me, this is what great music is all about.

Good choice. I gave this to Mischa for Christmas but, shockingly, have only listened to it once. Looking forward to playing the bejeezus out of it over the next few days!

A good 7/10 from me. I really like the tunes and the album as a whole but still struggle a little with his voice, but that's the same with all of his music I guess.

Yes I'm going for a 7 too - it's more an album that I would 'respect' rather than really enjoy but thanks for posting as I doubt I would have listened to it otherwise ...

If anyone wants to buy a good representative album of the new later Cohen style, I'm Your Man is all-round excellent.

This is certainly one of the best Leonard Cohen albums and sadly his last. Delay in vinyl coming out meant he passed away between ordering and it's release. Just wish pressing quality on this could have been better, but the music is top class. 10/10.
