Hi all, I recently got a pair of Grado PS500 headphones and they are truly excellent. They have a open sound but still a sense of warmth with great bass depth and detail. Cannot recommend them enough Paul

Further to this, I have one complaint about these headphones…. in my bedroom system (Squeezebox III / Beresford Caiman Gatorized) with these headphones, they actually now sound better than the entire system downstairs LOL… oh well, looks like I will have to upgrade then…. hehe

Yes a lot easier to get headphones to sound good. But IMO a decent system will beat headphones. Glad they are working for you

I'd probably agree with you both… sometime a headphone based system and vice versa… I personally am loving these headphones, they are truly exceptional… but then again I suppose they should be considering the amount I spent on them…

I tried the larger pads and I still prefer the originals for the PS500, the larger pads produce a wider sound but a lot of the mid-bass reduces/disappears which I really like. My PS500's broke last year but Grado's UK service team promptly fixed them under warranty, only for them to realise that the warranty had run out the previous year and still homered it, can't complain at that
