This new Sony Xperia XZ Premium phone packs some very impressive technology. Shoots 960fps at 720p. I remember not so long ago getting very excited shooting 150fps on film cameras - quite amazing how this feature is now available in such a compact size. The 'Minority Report' style projection looks great as well. The problem is how many of these are Sony going to shift at over a grand per unit?? Looks like I'll be sticking to my first gen Xperia Z which is still going strong ...   |

In practice, users can only capture 0.18 seconds of footage at this speed, which produces six seconds of video when played back. How useful in the real world ? |

I think it’s pretty cool - shooting at these frame rates is only interesting to capture very quick action in the first place -
something like jumping in a deep puddle or a boxer's punch ...
I think punters could have a lot of fun with it …

One would need to be very lucky to exactly capture 0.18 seconds of movement by manually pressing a button.
In reality most people would miss the action. 
As I say, not much use in the real world, but good technology none the less.

I am pretty sure that technology was state of the art in Edwardian times Jules. Mind you, if there have been no improvements, I suppose it is still 'state of the art'.
