I was over and my Dad's place yesterday and we had a bit of a listening session ethics turned out to be quite interesting. He's got an all Naim system and Kharma speakers which sounds quite good to my ears (although I've heard better for less but I don't tell him that ). Dads' decided to follow my lead and look into cable as I've had so much success, and as he's wedded to Naim he's borrowed a Naim Powerline kettle cable, so I thought I'd take my MCRU No. 9 down for comparison. We started with the standard kettle cable that Naim provide with their kit first, then moved onto the Naim Powerline and there was a significant improvement... the vocals became less recesed and less shouty. The bass tightened up and became deeper, and the soundstage seemed to open up too. Next we moved on to the MCRU cable which Dad thought would never be able to compare with the Naim, whereas I was quietly confident. Instantly we heard an improvement from the MCRU, it did everything the Naim did but more of it. Bass was tidier, symbols were clearer and more natural, and vocals were even more defined. Given the relative price points of the two cables new, the MCRU cable is outstanding. But also it proved agin to me that power cables do make a difference

That MCRU no.9 delivers outstanding VFM. This is the first time I have heard of anyone comparing Naim cables to anything else. As I guessed it would be, but I was by no means certain Yes mains cables do really make a difference By the way I have some of the MCRU Ultimates you could try
