The thing that annoys me is when we are not in and couriers dump parcels inside of the bin, I think they do this as it is raining outside, but I would rather they take it away and we pick it up later than it go into the bin! Also, some (not all) couriers, are happy to put a cardboard box behind the bin when it's raining... which really annoys me!

DPD were good the other day.
I had a parcel of capacitors due on Tuesday, but unfortunately I had to go out.
I went online and filled in their form for the delivery to be left in my porch, and I left an old cold box outside for the purpose.
When I got home the parcel was nice and dry in the cold box, and I'd got an Email with photos showing my front door and the parcel.
Well done DPD.

That's good to hear.
I've just been let down by Collect+ for the first time. I paid extra for their two day service but they ended up collecting it late from the drop off store and ended up more like a five day service. They did however refund me the cost as I've used them quite a lot in the past.
Fortunately I had an understanding buyer and I refunded the shipping to him.

How ironic - had a mare with DPD this morning. Bought a tube from France that they were meant to deliver this morning. Said the delivery was refused and turns out they didn't have the first line of address. The seller sent me a copy of the shipping labels and they were fully correct. DPD just hadn't read them properly. They insisted that the seller would have to resend details via the French post office. He said correctly that he had already supplied correct details so there wouldn't be a point. Eventually seller emailed DPD direct but they still couldn't get it right! All in all it took 5 emails to DPD, a few to the seller and three phone calls to sort it out - will be interesting to see if it actually arrives tomorrow, otherwise a drive to the depot beckons ...

I had a delivery via My HerpesHermes this morning. I knew it was due and I waited quietly so as not to miss the doorbell. In fact, I was waiting so quietly I heard the courier put a card through my door to tell me she'd left my parcel with a neighbour because I wasn't in. Perhaps it was just a coincidence that she had a parcel for that neighbour too, and is it possible that it was quicker to my neighbour to sign for both parcels and then just bung a card through my door?

Well DPD finally delivered today.
What a surprise. There was nothing wrong with the address label on the parcel. The driver just hadn't bothered to read it carefully enough yesterday. After the fiasco about getting the sender to give them the 'correct' address they stuck a new address label on that was less accurate than the first! Their 'customer services' just refused to accept that they had made a mistake and were totally inflexible...

So often the difference is a driver who gives a shit, no matter how good the company system is. Suppose the really good system keeps track and gets rid of the rubbish.
The couriers I use are very good, even delivering trough third parties, which could be almost anyone.
Wouldn't have thought it but Tesco home delivery groceries is a good example of really great guys and gals. Such nice people, so helpful and so pleasant.

A friend of mine works for DPD and I have heard some terrible stories from him about things his colleagues get up to. Mike has hit the nail right on the head, if you get a driver that cares, that can make a massive difference.
I had a situation once where the driver said he couldn't find our address and I'd seen him literally drive past our door. When he came to deliver the following day he got a little bit of sarcasm from me I have to admit.

I must give a vote to Sainsbury's delivery staff. Without exception they have been very polite, very helpful, and very pleasant over the last couple of years that we've used the service. My wife has a heart condition so the guys (and girls) bring the groceries into the house, and they'll help her unpack them if she's at home on her own. I don't know if Tesco do it, by the way, but we bought a "12 month delivery pass" from Sainsbury's Online and it's saved us a fortune on delivery costs. We've also signed my 91 year old mum up to the service and she loves the "nice young men" who bring her groceries. Never had a problem with DPD either by the way (I received a parcel via their service yesterday in fact) so, Jules, feel free to take it personally.

Just to prove that my earlier comment about Amazon Logistics deliveries was correct... Amazon informed me yesterday (Saturday) that my latest order had been dispatched and would arrive on Tuesday. Can you guess what arrived at 9:30 this morning?

Another desperately poor showing from DPD today - they really have it in for me big time!
My parcel was delivered to a different address where somebody signed for it using my name. It's impossible to confuse my address with any other so I cannot believe they did this.
I phoned customer services who got the driver to retrieve the parcel which got to me an hour later, having already been opened. Thankfully what was inside was intact - the driver just said I could refuse the delivery and 'get another one'. He didn't understand that the contents were irreplaceable to me ...
I will do my best never to have anything more to do with these imbecilic DPD drivers in my area, ever again ...

That's a real shame as our local DPD drivers are usually very helpful - we get the same ones pretty much every time so maybe we're lucky.. The only thing I don't like is that their policy is that you either accept or reject on the doorstep BEFORE it's handed to you so of course you can't check for any damage etc other than a quick check on the outside. addendum: I just realised you live in London whereas we're out 'in the sticks'. I suspect that makes a huge difference - I wouldn't like to be a delivery driver in London myself..

I've just got a nice email from UKMail telling me my order is being shipped, giving me an order reference, and relating the associated consignment number. I've just emailed them a suggestion that it would be lovely if they could work who sent whatever it is into their emails at some time in the future. I've got 5 orders outstanding at eBay and none of them are showing as shipped yet. So...not a clue what's coming, but it'll be here on Monday. [EDIT] I've received a speedy reply... There followed, not 15 seconds later, another email congratulating me on my case now being closed. I think I'll give up trying to help them to be more helpful.

Needed a new tyre for the bike for a spare sooner or later Was already watching Conti 4 seasons on EBay and saw the price drop to under 30 quid, including delivery. I'll go for that. Turns out to be from Halfords. Ok I'll take a punt. Had an email to say delivery between 1.30 and 2.30 About 2pm doorbell rings and there is our usual Dreadlocked DPD guy with my tyre. Impressive

Although slightly off topic, I ordered a Curry last night (naughty) and it arrived 20 minutes earlier than they stated, so I was well pleased... the food was lovely too.
