Curious that Quantum Science Audio never mentions that a fuse is a rare component in that it is intrinsically designed to fail.

I think it’s time to start my own Audiophile fuse company. Pink fairy dust will be the first fuse in the lineup.

Rather like trying to achieve the 'vinyl sound', which I can't imagine wanting, the 'horn sound" is equally unappealing.
I don't want my system sounding like another facsimile, I want it sounding as close to real as possible.

I would be interested to hear their fuses and see if they live up to their claims, even at those extortionate prices

All this fuse talk has me wanting fuse upgrades Start gently and choose a core component like a DAC or preamp. Something like a HiFi Tuning Supreme or AMR Gold will give you an idea of whether you like and can hear the difference. Remember that in the UK you should buy matching fuses for the plug (1") and rear panel (likely 20mm).

Remember that in the UK you should buy matching fuses for the plug (1") and rear panel (likely 20mm). Hi Martin, I think I have an SR Blue in my Dac from delving in a couple of years ago. I have an 800mA SR black in a box that I think came out of the Dac and was swapped for a blue. I’ve been mostly away from Hifi the last couple of years due to lack of time and my Hifi being in the living room shared by the kids. The system gets used daily though as the tv goes into the Dac. One of my active speakers failing forced a new speaker purchase which spiked my Hifi addiction again. I was going to buy a couple of orange SR fuses on sale, but unfortunately they don’t have the fuse ratings I need. I think I’ll end up going all in on SR Purple’s, but the cost is putting me off, particularly because I need to do 2 at once for the active speakers. The Purple’s do sound impressive from what I’ve read though.

Unfortunately I don't like the SR Blue much and don't know the Black.
Much as I love the Purple, be careful with it. It will remorselessly reveal any deficiencies in your setup. I urge you to take small steps rather than plunge in with a bag of Purples! If you really want to, try a Purple in the DAC. It's a sight better than the Blue, for sure, and will bring out vibrancy you never knew it had.

Thanks Martin, I might do that then and try a Purple in the Dac.

Funnily enough, I have some very good high silver content solder from Shark.
It's going to take some to beat an SR Purple at over twice the price.

How beneficial are fuses in linear power supplies?
Especially looking at the power supply for my streamer.
But also linear power supplies for a couple of switches, a router, a modem, and an Intel Nuc in the future.

Which fuses, Brett?
The mains power fuse is as important as for any component with a built-in power supply. At the least, an SR Red does the job well.
The internal DC fuse is also important. Here, I recommend a HiFi Tuning fuse.
In all cases, the direction is important.

The AC IEC input.
Thinking of hunting down SR Orange fuses for this purpose. Have one loaned out and an SR Red I could use.
That leaves one more SR Orange to find, as I've found one for the LPS to streamer.

How beneficial are fuses in linear power supplies? Especially looking at the power supply for my streamer. But also linear power supplies for a couple of switches, a router, a modem, and an Intel Nuc in the future. with my Zero Xero lps on my router, adding Hi-Fi tuning internal fuse made a difference. Adding an SR orange fuse to the iec input made a big difference, adding a 13 amp sr orange and lifted the sound. Each stage very worth while in my system. For my Plixir power supply switch serves my network switch, again 13 amp sr orange made a difference. I am yet to upgrade the iec input fuse on this power supply, but will be using st orange again and expecting a good step up in performance. For me each time I added a fuse the sound became more realistic, while also in earthing subtly layers of detail, musical rather than over analytical. You just can’t stop listening to it. Hope that helps.
