I have never really had a problem with my Physical behaviour towards it but some mental issues can be a problem.
This one has always haunted me.
Collecting sets of things. Say i was collecting a set of Records, Catalogue number being the important part. During the issuing of releases sometimes Record Labels miss the the Proceeding catalogue number & jump to the next catalogue number, some miss quite a few may it be caused by a Special editions, Promo, shelving or what ever. Having that hole in the set can be [Is like] the end of the world, I wont be able to settle & it will irritate me so much i will sell them just to clear my conscious.
Collecting Prog Albums, but insist on noting past 1973. For Example:
ELP is fine i can cut off at 1973 because that was it anyway for a while YES is also fine i happy to end it at 'Topographics' King Crimson im fine cos im not bothered about anything past 'Islands'
You get my Jist? When it comes to say Genesis the problem arises, 'Lambs' is a good album but it's 1974! This is when my brain short circuits, I want it but cannot have it because of it being the year it is. It totally imbalances my way of Logic.. I need it but cannot..
Lunacy i hear you cry but im afraid this is how it works.. The joy of loving short lived early prog on the other hand is most never made it to 1973..

Whenever I see the items you've owned, I'm always bowled over by your tastes and standards, as well as the job you do on any refurbs. Other people would settle for less and never hold out for things to be completely right. Of course it's a double edged sword and can bring anguish. If the world was full of bog standard, ordinary, average, normal (or whatever name you want to use) people, it would be a pretty dull place IMO.

Cheers Cocker.. As you mention it, my Amp is better than original condition now However the Black Anodising on the end of four tone control Knobs has slightly faded, probably due to the previous owner maybe having it somewhere near sunlight. This is really bugging the hell out of me & im afraid im going to have to buy another one of these amps just to swap the Knobs over.. One of my pet hates is: 'can't care less attitude' Things i would be climbing the wall over, other just do not get phased about

I had a dreadful problem with this in my teens.
Here's just one example. I had to put the lp sleeve into its plastic cover without the edge of the lp touching the edge of the cover if you see what I mean. I would do this however many times it took to be 'successful'. It would drive me insane of course.

Im the same but its normal behaviour.. Military style routine with Record use for me.. As for CDees [Shitty little things] they have to be put in the case with the Label sat straight as a die, opening a book style..

I work with a lot of high functioning Autism and OCD can greatly impact on their life. What inspires me is the stratergies they develop to cope with this

I might have some very slight degree of OCD traits. But I certainly do suffer a lot from anxieties.
Not sure if this is linked to OCD? For many years now I've had intrusive thoughts. Those horrible vile/negative thoughts that come into your head, at any recurring moment! But I know how to deal with them and just carry on with my day.

I have many, many anxieties... mainly around my insecurities and the thought of dying young... it was only my persistence that something was seriously wrong that the doctors finally found the heart condition I have that would have killed me had I not chased it so thoroughly... Interestingly, my depression has subsided a lot since the diagnosis (and both the anxieties and depression are apparently a side effect of it).

Interestingly, my depression has subsided a lot since the diagnosis I have never suffered from depression, Paul, but my outlook on life has certainly become much more positive since suffering from a life-shortening diagnosis.

Intrusive thoughts can sometimes be linked to OCD and you could explore this further but if you've found a strategy to cope you may not want to!

Buying Hi-Fi also helps to keep my mind busy. Takes my mind off a lot of thoughts that triggers the anxieties. I also suffer from misophonia. Always have a fan on in the background, to block out certain sounds that annoy me!! S.

If you suffer from that what you doing being into Hi-Fi It's usually sounds, coming vividly from a person near by. One of them is constant coughing and breathing sounds that can really irritate me. I also detest barking from dogs. But that's no surprise! Because I simply can't stand the bloody creatures! Sad, but very true! S.

I know what you mean - I'm not a crazy box swapper like I used to be but all the tinkering and vinyl buying does much the same for me ...

I used to have real issues with worrying and ruminating as a youngster, but they somehow left me entirely and I just don't worry now, even about things I perhaps ought to. My OCD is related to space. Any potential breathing restriction, tight clothing or multiple layers, jewellery, queues, crowds (especially being surrounded), traffic jams, denaely built areas, CHILDREN (aargh!), chimes, ringtones, ringers, phones, people standing too close, multiple stacked tasks, clutter, disorder etc etc all make me feel suffocated or provoke a reaction. I tend to lead a pretty reclusive life and genuinely don't like or seek the company of others, even family. To me, having people or things around me is un-natural. I'm therefore comfortable with my mindset. I can cope with all of the above but I feel better if I avoid letting any of them invade my space
