When I put up my Christmas tree this year I noticed on the box that it said it was made of silicone, I spent my whole life prefering the real thing until last year my wife decided to opt for the silicoe alternative. I trusted her judgement but I was very unsure to begin with as I have always preferred the real thing . But on weighing up two options I must admit silicone ain't half bad. She decided to not scrimp but spend a bit of money and I think from a distance the silicone option looks pretty darn good, almost like the real thing in fact. So chaps, what's your preference?

From a distance they look all right, but up close there's nothing like the real thing

Real or silicone doesn't really matter to me as long as they're large enough for the neighbours to get a nice view of them through the window. You do have to be more careful with the real ones though as they tend to drop as they get older.

Well here she is, really not bad as you can see. my last real version was a bit limp, this fake one by comparison is much more full bodied. I have to admit, I really miss that authentic smell and texture. But all is good and happy in the Sovereign home.

Thanks for keeping us a breast about the tree situation.
I'd feel a bit of a tit not knowing the differences.
I hope this thread has not been a boob, as the information could have been misinterpreted.
One would hardly want the Bristol decency police on your knockers . If you agree just press your hooters.

You do have to be more careful with the real ones though as they tend to drop as they get older. I've got my hands on a couple of vintage ones this year. They're rather stunning examples, quite perky, but it seems important as to how they've been maintained apparently. Good to know there's the silicone option when needed though. Tip - presentation and decoration can extend their attraction considerably.

I never had one when on my own but the boss said we must. Becomes more each year now.
Last year we had a rooted, non drop live one. It dropped needles like no tomorrow and when planted out died This year a plastic one which to my amazement still cost 60 quid
This year rather amusingly the ornaments are being knocked off by the dogs who promptly apply toddlers rules (this is mine) and run off with them

Touch, feel, squeeze test - only real ones will do!

I do hope people are talking about Christmas trees here, for some reason I feel this thread is getting off track π
