'MAG-LEV Audio is The First Levitating Turntable that brings the feeling of zero gravity into your living room.'
Hmmm... Well that meaningless nonsense doesn't inspire confidence but the 'levitating' turntable seems to be getting a lot of press at the moment - they have more than achieved their kickstarter goal with time to spare ...

I wonder how much a MM cart will enjoy all that magnetism. Someone on Steve Hoffman's forum remarked that "That platter had more wobble than John Goodman's chin."

I was wondering what would happen if you sneezed near it - I reckon you'd stand a good chance of killing family members with a sticky frisbee.

Hmm, wobbling platter, fixed arm. Recipe for large woofer cone movements, methinks.

Main bearings are so quiet now, below record roar I think, that this drive may work better with a decent small sleeve bearing to locate the platter and far less 'levitation.'

It's dead cool, though. I think that's the whole raison d'etre of the thing Jerry. Magnetic bearings have been knocking around for ages, but none of them have raised the platter significantly so you can SEE it floating. I'm waiting for the first add-on from someone that places multicoloured LEDs under the platter that pulse in time with the bass. That was supposed to be a joke, but... It will happen.
