Jasmine Sullivan is a first for me, I've not heard of her before. She is an R&B star whose debut single was apparently produced by Missy Elliott which in itself is an impressive accolade.
I've listened to her album a couple of times since receiving it from Mr Whippy and it's growing on me. I have to admit I nearly turned it off after the first track because I found her voice a bit screechy, but I perserfered and I'm glad I did because it gets a lot better IMHO.
The music is classic R&B but no single track jumps out at me to set her apart.
Would I buy it? Not sure yet, I noticed you can get it for a very reasonable price on Amazon, so I'll certainly give it some thought.

Why did I chose it? Why did I choose it? (Repeating for dramatic effect - and having just burnt me Quorn Roast.) I didn't expect The Spanish Inquisition, Sunshine.
A few years ago I did an mp3 search for something. Can't remember what it was but her track "Bust Your Windows" came up. Out of curiosity I downloaded it and was a bit intrigued by it with the opening and the use of strings, and liked the overall production. Sometime later found the title of the album it came from, but left it at that.
A couple of months ago I found a few of her videos on YouTube and decided to get the album, which was £1.44 on EBay.
Listening to it I did think all the tracks were pretty even, apart from Bust Your Windows - which still stands out for me, and the final track, which is the weakest, to my mind.
It was one of four that I was thinking of sending. Ended up choosing it as it was the most recently bought.

I'm afraid that I failed to find anything to like about this CD. I hope other folks fair a bit better than me!

I did think one or two might be less than enamored with it.
It was a bit of a departure for me, but thought it was OK.

Not for me either The case came slightly damaged Yes, there was a crack in the plastic when it arrived chez-moi. I guess it's inevitable with multiple postings, the risk of slight damage escalates accordingly. As for the music ..... err, really not my thing. I can't imagine choosing to put it on for enjoyment. Tbh, this whole scheme rather falls under the same heading -- as I approach my dotage my listening habits focus ever more tightly on classical. And now I'm hooked up with Spotify a whole new classical world has opened up for me at the click of a mouse. Too much music to try that I do find rewarding to spend time on stuff that doesn't really interest me. I think I'll drop out of the next round of the CD Swap. It's good that others are finding it worthwhile, but it's turned out to be an unwanted distraction for me.

Not quite as stultifyingly bad as predicted here. The opening song is the best by quite a large margin. Standard production values apply - big beaty upper bass but nothing at the frequency extremes, a bit like listening to a Naim system. The moment rap and a reggae beat arrive, I've lost interest. Her vocal range is quite limited.
Nope, once is enough.

Thanks for the return of it.
I don't know who the Rush CD belongs to that came back with it.

I thought someone (John) had used it as packing. It looked like someone had cleaned all the decks of the QE2 with it.

Just out of interest I am flicking through this on Spottyfly on earbuds. Sounds like my cup o tea. Will give it a proper listen. Could be something to really mess up my bass.
