I have just shelled out £400 notes, plus import duty and VAT of 70 notes for the GAP Landrover diagnostic dongle thingy (comes from Canada )
I am afraid I am a die-hard Landrover fan, in spite of all their atrocious reliability record does to dissuade me. Back in Blighty I could rely on Angus and Howard at AHL Engineering dealing with its foibles, but here in the Aude (no Land Rover Service agent in the departement) it was proving a bit tricky telephone supporting me
I have a suspension fault - which I get an orange or red light from increasingly frequently. Sometimes I have to stop and reset the ECU's (twice so far). It is booked into AHL on 22 November when I am driving home to get a service, a remote control activation of the diesel pre-heater fitted (its cold down here, and I reckon at least one glow heater is faulty). They can fix the suspension for me then
But its a 800 mile drive and I didn't fancy doing it at 25mph on the bump stops - so wanted some reassurance - or to find a local repairer
They recommended to me that I buy the GAP 11dBT tool - so they could talk me through diagnostics and possibly some repairs over the phone.
It's not cheap - but my word! It is a complete full function diagnostic and dealer ECU programmer on a single vehicle licence. It connects via Bluetooth to my Hudl2. It's like the flight deck of the space shuttle. I sat there monitoring live data just now, and could have spent hours reading injector positions, air mass data - hundreds of parameters. And in addition to full fault code reading, and English language descriptions of the codes, live data, logs, graphical live data and ECU flashing, I can program the key fob, and set suspension heights and a host of other parameters
Seriously impressed. Does anyone else have a toy like this for their vehicle?
