Makes you wonder why stands today are often so ugly in comparison.

Makes you wonder why stands today are often so ugly in comparison. Exactly, the reason i would never give space or time for anything these days.

Any fool knows 3 legs are preferable to 4.
I've still got (somewhere) a pair of QED Tri-stands.

Have you thought about looking at period furniture and incidental tables? Undoubtably, the stand you have featured was probably used for other purposes as well. Chair side coffee tables would be typical.

My eyes are always all over the place It's all about the late 60s/ Early 70s style & design with me. A good solid sand is stand to me not some far fetched sound improvements
