Walk into enough hifi shops or any audio show on the planet and you will quickly realise that there is a 'type' among the attendees. The cliche is overweight, balding, short, middle aged men with glasses.
How do you stack up?

Damn - 5'7" or I would have made a clean sweep. Still quite short, though.

You've no need to worry, Martin -- you only score 3 out of 5.

You've no need to worry, Martin -- you only score 3 out of 5. Indeed - spot on! However, I do go around Hi-Fi shows trying not to be an utter pain.

3 out of 5 here. So what's wrong with pies? Actually, I do like a pie now and then, so my attraction is healthy.
The White Horse in Ridgewell (next village to me) have a pie night every Wednesday, and damn fine pies they are as well.

2 out if 5.
Over 40, with a hopeless attraction to cheese and crisps. Makes up for the pies.

Yep, hand in your system on the way out and go back to START. You can pick up your Fisher Price record player when you get there!

2/5 for me, but then I've never considered myself an audiophile. I just like music.

Yup another 2/5 here. I've never seen audiophiles as shortshits, maybe I need to attend a Hifi show to meet more of them.

Confession time: I have never attended a hifi show. 4/5 for me (I missed out on the height attribute by two inches, dammit)

I definitely think I'm missing something here with the 'unhealthy attraction to pie' thing. Maybe I should investigate. Problem is proper pie shops are a rarity these days. We have a good butchers here in Maidstone, let me have a butchers in the butchers and see if they are a pie selling butchers

There are couple more observations I would like to add Chris:-
The discussion of the 'Hoppiness' of Hook Norton ale or similar beverage
An lurid fascination for obscure equipment masquerading as high end gear whilst being presented by an over the fence audiophile.
The lack of bodily hygiene to the point of being on par with our Gallic cousins from their capital across the Channel
The lack of any particular style or dress sense from the current time period (though the lack of kipper ties and flares has been refreshing in the last year or two)
Discussions of Monk, Coltrane Vs Coleman in a rather robust Saturday afternoon football game attendee manner
Pack mentality by the various groups of forum 'experts' traveling in press gang formation and passing their qualified judgement on various room sounds by way of 'naim factor zero captain' or 'What no Dire Straight, too much safe lounge music'
The amount of Oriental ladies following a few steps behind as the wife. I have been reliably informed they can cost as much as 12000 bahts so a toss up between a swanky xbox one set up with surround sound etc tough call.
Men with very strong right arms from lugging a huge amount of carrier bags stuffed with literature around the shows
Tupperware sandwich boxes in abundance even luminous green has been spotted at Bristol
The OCD factor goes up a solid five notches
Always someone who wants to play an uber death-thrash metal warp speed guitar solo through a pair of 4 inch stand mounts to test out their suitability to recreate a 30Kw Festival venue
Trade members whining about the price of liquid refreshment costs as expense accounts look nervous
Listening environments with the ambient temperature of the upper reaches of the amazon during the high season

The more I read the posts above, the more I realise I'm just an audiophile 'wannabe' I've got a lot of self adjusting to do to reach these great heights.
