I've recently come across the website for Testament Records - testament.co.uk/lp?limit=allHere you will find re-issues of classical and historical recordings, the originals of which all sell for very high prices indeed. It's a real shame the website is so poor - there's absolutely no additional information about the recordings from a technical or artistic viewpoint, which is very surprising considering what they're all about! However, I believe they are all analogue affairs from the original masters. I decided to dip my toe in the water with David Oistrakh's 'Encores' SAX2253 which should be very nice indeed. I'd never be able to afford an original. If these are nicely done, they would represent very good value indeed - single lp's all go for 19.99 each. And although it doesn't appear to be advertised, you get free shipping at the moment. I will report back on this lp when it arrives ...

The Testament label on CD has my favourite recording of the Elgar VC ... Yes! - Rattle. Not usually among my preferred conductors. It's not considered worthy of LPing, though!!

AAA Analogue - Pressed in Germany
Testament has revived these classic titles from the EMI catalog using only the original EMI master tapes, cut onto lacquer at EMI's Abbey Road Studios and mastered using full analog techniques throughout production.
David Oistrakh - Violin Vladimir Yampolsky - Piano
Violinist David Oistrakh is accompanied by pianist Vladimir Yampolsky for this recording of compositional works by Debussy, Falla, Ysaye, Tchaikovsky, Suk, Kodaly, Wieniawski, and Zarzycki.
An artist who is really a favorite is seldom allowed to leave the platform as soon as the last item of the recital has been performed. The admirers leave their seats and crowd around the platform, bent on seeing how many more pieces their hero can be cajoled into giving them. Especially is this so with violinists for whom there is an almost limitless collection of melodious and dazzling tidbits which have been elbowed out of the more austere recital program of today. But they still retain the old charm and are enthusiastically acclaimed as "Encores".
Here is a selection from David Oistrakh's large repertoire of these delightful show pieces.
Musicians:
David Oistrakh, violin
Vladimir Yampolsky, piano
Selections:
Side One:
Claude Debussy (1862-1918)
1. Clair de Lune (No. 3 of "Suite Bergamasque")
Manuel de Falla (1876-1946)
2. Jota (No. 4 of "7 Canciones Populares Espanolas")
Eugene Ysaye (1858-1931)
3. Extase, Op. 21
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (1840-1893)
4. Valse Scherzo, Op. 34
Side Two:
Josef Suk (1874-1935)
1. Love Song, Op. 7, No. 1
Zoltan Kodaly (1882-1967)
2. Three Hungarian Folk Dances
Henryk Wieniawski (1835-1880)
3. Legende, Op. 17
Aleksander Zarzycki (1834-1895)
4. Mazurka

Thanks for that info Scott - very strange that it isn't on the Testament website!
Can I ask what the source is - is it a PR release from them?

My copy arrived today.
Very impressed by the quality of the packaging - nice substantial cover, well printed, heavy-weight vinyl and would you believe it, a poly-lined inner and not a sandpaper one!!!
