It works better with 1 in USB socket and the other connected to the USB cable with my system

It's a different sound, isn't it? I'm not absolutely sure but I'm leaving it my way for the moment as I really enjoyed tonight's listening.

I've listened to two completely different songs last night and tonight that I last heard before using the Mutec MC-3 reclocker. They are Open Eye Signal by Jon Hopkins and Here It Is by Leonard Cohen. In both cases, they have almost unrecognisable spacial depth and ambience as well as shape to the sounds. The magnitude of reclocking is rammed home to me yet again.
An amazing device and a very significant addition to my system.

I've made the deal and this nicely made piece of Oz equipment will be on its way to me from Canada shortly. A Burson Audio AB-160 XLR unity gain line buffer. I bought the Burson for just under $CAN300, which I thought was a very decent price. Then the shipping and insurance cost me another $CAN150, which made me realise that the value equation was somewhat eroded but never mind, there is not another one anywhere in the world for sale right now. Now I've just received the wonderful letter from ParcelFarce stinging me for £82 for duty & VAT. On a used bit of kit which I asked the sender to declare as used. Utter thieving b*st*rds.

Unfortunately you are charged vat on shipping into the country, plus import of 4% but Parcel farce have s blanket charge of £18 I believe

Didn't think declaring as used made any difference to import fees. Only time I've seen zero fees was for demo or loan kit for test.

Couldn't ask for it to be under-valued as it was shipped insured. Never mind, I'm over it already. Looking forward to trying it out.

I was chatting last night with @tonyc and we were talking about fuses and the new SR Orange. He suggested that I upgrade the two 20mm DC protection fuses inside the QP-1 supercap power supply. I hadn't given them any thought until now.
I searched my bag of spare fuses and found a HiFi Tuning Supreme 5A. It was suggested that I upgrade the Asus power first so I did. I measured the voltage across the existing fuse to check direction and put the new one in (HFT mark their fuses for direction).
There was an immediate and obvious improvement in soundstage and depth, with more background air and space in the production. This was so pleasing for just putting a spare fuse in place. I've ordered another similar HFT fuse for the 2nd Mutec power circuit.

Martin, are you using boggo Cat6/Cat7 between router and ATB, or have you upgraded to anything "better," yet? Needless to say, I'm thinking about trying a run of AudioQuest, probably sometime after Christmas.

Yes Paul, I'm using a MeiCord Opal ethernet cable from router to ATB. It isn't cheap, but it's very good. Ridiculous that it should make a difference over standard Cat5e or Cat6 but it does. Brooky sells them: www.mcru.co.uk/product/meicord-audiophile-ethernet-network-cables/Of course, being an AQ-head, you may want to go that route.

Burson make the OP amps I use in Najda. Superb bits of kit. Not cheap and 6 were needed!

That actually works our cheaper than a run of AQ Cinnamon, but I probably wouldn't be buying it at "full price" if I went that far up the range. It's roughly equivalent to AQ Forest price-wise. I shall have to take a look at the MeiCord, and compare things like cable construction with the AQ before making a decision. Unless an " I-cannot-resist-that bargain" pops up on eBay, obviously.

Have you been able to put the Burson Audio AB-160 XLR unity gain line buffer into your system?

It's arrived! The main unit has some gain but I also have the unity gain board (shown in front) which gives me options to play with.

So... how does it ‘sound’?

The Burson has been up and running since I got home. I had a first listen, which was very promising indeed. I then sidetracked myself by trying the unity gain board but I thought the bass sounded bloated. Upon inspection, the board doesn't have lower gain, it has a potential divider on the output. The clue was that I could hear my P10 Cleanwave more clearly with this board. A bad sign of high output impedance. I put that board away and reverted to the one with about 3dB more gain and low output impedance from my sound level tests.
It's very nicely built inside (photo to come) with over 5mm thick panels and runs warm, indicating some potency in the buffer stage which I can hear. It appears to drive the Belles as well as the Pass does, which is very surprising.
Right, I'm going to continue listening before I go any further, to check my findings and explore some more music. I then need another sense check tomorrow. Then I'll tell you how it sounds.
