Yes, separation of channels should be a benefit. On the other hand, it's more complication than a stereo amp.

I thought I would verify whether the Electric Beach shelves offer better isolation on the system rack compared with the Torlyte shelves that the streamer/DAC gear had been sitting on before. Here are the results, playing the same piece of music at normal volume with the phone running its seismic app resting on each. TorlyteElectric BeachIt was difficult cueing up the music to the exact same point but you can see that the EB offers better isolation, at least in the X and Y planes. This matches the additional clarity that I'm hearing since moving them.

What happens when you place the phone on the item that resides on the shelf? Also, the X-axis is presumably vertical motion - that's much more active. Is that down to the feet the boards are sitting on?

I got pretty much the same reading from the shelf or the component. I assume the Z axis is vertical?
Yes, feet are RDC Cones under the EBs.

The app is Hamm Seismograph for Android.
Tony - will do and will also try to compare BR Pads against BR Big Feet.
I will need to use test tones to ensure that the test conditions are stable. Fun to do, though.

The LKS has just been despatched from China and coincidentally the Audiophonics has been despatched from France. Which will arrive first? The Audiophonics streamer has arrived!

Once you have warmed it up a bit, you'll have to let us know how it compares with the Pi. Will you still be using the Coherent power supply to power it?

It's not going to be doing a damned thing until the LKS DAC arrives (I can't use I2S output with anything I have at the moment). Oh, and it's a Pi too!
Yes, the QP-1 is going to be powering it and Tony will upgrade it to provide more current for the 5V output and delete the 15V output.

I think I've made a resolution improvement by moving the kit to better isolation. I can now hear a clearer difference between Spotify and Qobuz in decay and spatial cues.
I've been listening to Lullaby by Low and the reverb and decay in Mimi Parker's voice is really stark in Qobuz 16/44. I've not heard this so clearly before.

Even better, it's out for delivery today. Only one problem: I'm not at work today, I'm at the BETT show.
Ruth to the rescue (hopefully)!

It's alive! Listening to the LKS now on S/PDIF from my current Pi/DigiOne.
What a beast it is, came very well packed. The milled remote is rather nice, too.

A bit plug and play for me You need to struggle for several days at least, and finally the light goes on. That might come though with the hdmi I2S thing though hehe. Does it sound better?

Oh yes, the I2S HDMI re-jig should make the Audiophonics 'proper' in your eyes.
I'll write about the LKS properly soon as my head is baked from a day at BETT in the ExCeL. I've been listening all night but I need sleep.

That's a pretty chunky DAC! Look forward to your thoughts.
