They are nearly half-price so I will order one in advance of actually needing it.
I presume you just order as is, BNC male to male?

Just remember how inflexible it is. You may need to order longer depending on the route taken.

Hmm that's a tough one - mine needs to go from the top shelf directly to one lower down and would normally order 50cm but don't want to order longer than I need, as there's a wall behind where the cable will get jammed up against if too long ...

Chris Isaak - Wicked Game has never sounded better. His vocal range and power take some midrange grunt and I think the LMR-400 clock cable is adding a bit more, or it could be the Tubulus I2S still reaching higher levels. Whatever, I'm really enjoying music tonight and forgetting about the cold.

Interesting to go back to the Belden 4694R (75 ohm) compared with the LMR-400 (50 ohm). The Belden is slightly brighter in presentation but there's little between them in quality. I'll stick with the darker LMR-400 for now, but I can always switch if I need, the Belden is not going anywhere. The QA grounding boxes have arrived in the UK.

Let us know the effect of the QAs My later ones were immediate and then probably improved over time
The first ones took weeks to have any effect at all

That's interesting, Mike. Are they all the same model?
I was expecting the usual settling time for grounding boxes. Happy if they perform straight away.

All the same model
Didn't expect it immediately, didn't make any sense, but the ears heard it and were glad

The QA grounding boxes arrived earlier and are now adorned with Black Ravioli Pads. One has replaced the Aucharm on the Rendu streamer and the second has replaced the SGS-1s on the U18.
Mike, you were right and this time, at least, the improvement was immediate. The QAs have brought further soundstage, spaciousness and background detail. Also a little more separation especially noticeable on closely positioned voices.
I also detect a further calming of the presentation, making dynamics even more startling.
The SGS-1s and Aucharm are now on extra mains duty in two spare sockets.

Thinking about this, it's really interesting that there was still more noise to be sucked away from the sensitive digital playback chain. Not at the DAC itself but at the streamer and DDC. Not just adding grounding boxes, either, but replacing an existing one with a better one.
We continue to learn. It's also validation that the Quartz Acoustic is the best performing grounding box I know.

The QA boxes continue to do their magic. There is less glare on Jewel's voice, a tricky one with much breathy-ness, to reproduce well. Transient attack is up another level, giving huge impact on some music. Musical ebb and flow are also improved, a seeming contradiction but I really am having my cake and eating it. Oh, and one for John , the chanting and church bells on Waking the Witch are the best I've yet achieved.

Waking the Witch?
Didn't have you down as a Death Metal type Martin, I'm suitably impressed by your salient musical growth ...

I've noticed that the l/h QA box is running at 15.1C whereas the r/h box is running at 12.1C
Both boxes are identical and both the same distance away, with no sources of heat close by.
The l/h one is some 3C warmer - what could account for this? Surely a difference in noise absorption (streamer versus DAC) would be very large to account for such a temperature gradient?

As I understand their operation, ground boxes provide a drain for electrical noise. I can't imagine that any of our gear would drain enough noise to create the thermal difference that you describe.
It would be interesting to switch the two boxes to see whether or not the noise followed.
Let us know how this easy experiment goes...

Never occurred the temp would be anything but ambient. As for the difference in temp - that is bizarre

Could unperceived airflow or lack of be the answer ie the R/H box is cooler rather than the L/H box being hotter.
