I've played this a few times this month and was pleased to get to know it again. It's probably still among my favourite of the Genesis albums. I gave it an 8.

One of my favourites. Bit shocked at the muffled (how I remember Genesis early albums) mix on spotify - but hardly in a hifi set up. Creatively superb and the core of some great live performances I attended. In some ways W&W was the more mature - "one for the vine" and "Afterglow" being favourites along with Firth of Fifth from SEBTP. In many ways - certainly as my most played Genesis album - Seconds Out is favourite - even though a whole side of Suppers Ready showed up how Collins - though a great choice for front man, was not Gabriel in vocal versatility. I am more than a little troubled to find it missing from the record shelf now Ive been to look for it - we still havent opened all boxes, but I didnt think there were any more LP's to come

The supercut vinyl and SACD I have show ToTT to be very well recorded. Maybe Spotify don't have that in hi-bitrate version?
W&W was more mature but lacked the rawness and attack of ToTT, however both are excellent albums. I do think Seconds Out is one of the all-time great live albums out there. Their performances of The Cinema Show and The Carpet Crawl are simply fantastic.

First time listening to this for me from start to finish. I can appreciate the quality of the musicianship and the arrangements; I liked it more than I thought I would - 6/10 for me. Los Endos is a great way to finish the album and I imagine sounds awesome on a good system. I would have enjoyed it a lot more if Phil Collins hadn’t been singing, but I have never got into the whole prog thing, and this is no exception. I think it very flattering of you to call that strained choking noise 'singing' I really like the music, but it is marred by the absence of a singer, so can only give it 5 out of 10. After this album things got really grim and Genesis spiraled downward into Aha territory. I will never forgive Collins for what he did to Genesis.

Blame the one who left rather than those who remained!

PG had a good solo career after Genesis so it could be said that Genesis phase 1 had had its day. I think Collins sang well for them after PG left and ToTT was still classic Genesis. Even W&W at a push.
Unfortunately, he couldn't help but influence them into commercialism involving overly catchy short songs and they lost their way completely. I don't listen to anything after W&W. I actually prefer Face Value and Hello, I Must be Going to the later Genesis albums.

I'm not crazy about it but I like it (Duke) when I do get round to playing it.
