Spendor S8e and Spendor S9(non e)
Would appreciate experience / thoughts on these floorstanders
Background
I currently have Mission 752 Freedom's which I really enjoy - great speakers.
The 8e's and the S9 have caught my eye/ radar as a genuine upgrade. I believe they will carry some of the virtues i love about the Freedoms, particularly and importantly non fatiguing, detailed and great in the mids.
Room
4.5 metres by 3.5 metres
Wooden suspended floor
Amp
Sansui AU 919 (Big Solid State Integrated)

The Sansui should power both well(nice amp from the past)
I only heard the S9e a few times and nearly bought some many years ago before I went open baffles
I think you really need to hear the speakers first in your room before you purchase
I know a lot of people really like the S8e

Not heard either but I have made some excellent and intuitive punts over the years, based on doing lots of reading up, owner reviews etc and knowing what I like has really paid off. |

hey Rob how's it goin'? Is the Sansui a keeper for you? Hi Jules / Chris. The Sansui is simply awesome and will be my last amp it's that good. It is the only amp I have ever owned that sounds sublime with tone controls in permanent tone defeat setting. It is in Angus's capable hands at the mo for some diagnostic investigation. Nothing conclusive yet re randomly appearing issue but may result in complete re cap, to be confirmed as nothing conclusive yet. I upgraded to the 919 and Ortofon Quintet Black at the same time and there has never been better sound from my system. |
