Today is the day of the official launch of The Audio Standard.
Martin, John and I are really pleased to declare that TAS is fully open for business.
We're really proud of the site and have been humbled by the many words of encouragement, support and congratulations that we've been receiving from people. We're also amazed that our 70th member joined on the day we opened!
There's a great quotation about open discussion and the free exchange of thoughts and knowledge that's particularly apt for a forum with the values and principles that we have set for TAS:
"Our heritage and ideals, our code and standards - the things we live by and teach our children - are preserved or diminished by how freely we exchange ideas and feelings"
(Walt Disney)
We really hope that you all enjoy the site and that it will give you as much satisfaction as it has for us already.
Some personal words from each of us:
Chris: Just a few short weeks ago John, Martin and I first discussed the idea of starting a new forum and in what seems like a total whirlwind, here we are, launching it. Of course, every audio forum is different, but The Audio Standard is my idea of perfection and I'm really excited to see it looking this good.
Hopefully you will like what you see here and you'll join us in making your own contribution to what has the makings of a really fantastic site. I promise that we'll do our best to keep it up to Standard!
John: I love music it is my major passion in life.
I have been a part of forums for about 5 years now and contribute on a few forums some HIFI and some music related.
With regards to my own system I have taken a different path to most
I enjoy both learning and sharing knowledge with others and its my deepest hope that TAS represents these values
Martin: I've been a member of forums for a great many years, in fact I started with CIX in 1989 when it was a dial-up service, before the internet had even come fully into existence. I subsequently became the moderator of the hi-fi conference there, and much later I became a moderator at The Art of Sound. It has been my dream to run a forum based on the simple ethos of helping and sharing with like-minded audiophiles, but always keeping a strong focus on music. After all, that's why we're here, right? I built my first system at the age of 16 and have had music in my blood ever since. I really hope you enjoy our new enterprise and help us to form it into a valuable resource of support and experience.
