I'm desperate to go to St Petersburg, mainly to see the Hermitage - did you get to spend much time there?

We spent an entire day at the Hermitage and saw a tiny fraction of what it has to offer. You do get 'palace overload' after a few hours, and lots of jaw dropping, but some of the artwork really is magnificent. I had been once before in the early 1980s, while SP was still in the Soviet Union and called Leningrad. The Hermitage has not changed much at all in that time.

Looks like the weather was better for your visit to Hurricane Ridge than it was for ours Martin. It's hard not to pick a rainy day in the Olympic Peninsula, where they get over 300 inches a year!
