Have you tried firing across the room, James? It's a bit narrow and you would have a near-field experience sitting against the opposite wall. It's just that I've tried firing down the length of a room a few times and it never works as well for me. If the speakers image well, you could have them wider apart than you might think would work. You may get wider stereo and a punchier sound.

Hi Martin, it has crossed my mind but as my room is only 9ft wide I soon dismissed it, a mistake possibly ? The speakers would have to be hard pressed against the wall surely, I currently have them 110cm away from the back wall, and would I not suffer badly from rear wall reflections if my head is inches from it? Open to suggestions ......

Agreed on both counts, but it works for me. My speakers are very close to the wall and my listening settee hard up against the rear wall. I have selective PicturePanel absorbers on both walls. It works remarkably well.

I love the first picture where there is a TQ Iridium amp tossed aside and a disused N*A Statement amp on the floor.

You might have to do a bit of room treatment like Martin suggested but you never know till you try If you can hold till September I bring my speakers around to you and lets see if they work in your room and set up

There will be room for one more if anyone is free in September and fancies it. I definitely won't be doing any speaker alterations before then as I'm starting another SECA build and I am really struggling to put my DDDAC back together, which is a bit concerning. The Bearsford DAC with all the mods and new boards that I am using is truely excellent but there is so much more weight, tone and scale that I am missing from my system.
