I've taken many great ones in Kalymnos in the past, which is just a little way from Kos.

From our veranda a few minutes ago. The sun sets too far West right now, so it's right in the very corner of our view. In the coming weeks it will be more over the sea as we view it.
A bit better tonight:

Out walking the dog this evening, I caught the old silk mill in silhouette against the long gone sunset. Tricky taking a shot like that, given the exposure time and the fact that I had a twitchy dog on the end of a lead 'sitting' (apparently) at my feet.

I've just got back from prowling around up on a nearby hill with my camera, hoping for a nice show, but it was very disappointing tonight.

Quite a bit of fire in the sky tonight, the pic doesn't really capture it all, but you can get a hint of it.

Yes from the front veranda. It must be about 6 weeks since I last looked. It's been too cold to sit out late so we haven't bothered. Cyprus has been a good few degrees down on normal although we have escaped the horrors that have hit everywhere around us. Syria, Egypt, Turkey and the Greek islands have had real freak weather. Apparently it's been the coldest Winter in 120 years in the Eastern Med. I've been here lots in December and Jan and I've never known it to be so uncomfortably cold. It's fine when you're outside but the buildings are just concrete shells with no insulation. The air con heats the place but it gets cold as soon as you switch it off.
I really should go down to the beach to take some sunset photos. Better still, use the digital SLR I bought and have used so little. It's just too easy to grab my iPad mini.

Driving over the hill to Lancaster this evening, we passed the reservoir, all lit up in pink reflections. We didn't have a proper camera handy but this shot from a phone gives you a clue of what it looked like.
