Got fooled already by the dark blue message box, just could not see it.
Hello all. Thanks for starting this forum though I don't know how much I can contribute. I joined a few days ago but needed a weekend to sort myself out.
I use a turntable for mainly the pasts collection though I have been buying new and SH up to a couple of years ago. It isn't the love of my life as I can see it is for some members here. CD player and last year bought a DAC with which I use the CD Player as transport plus my MacBook with downloaded mainly FLAC files. Not got any plans to rip everything to disc as yet, maybe when I have more time on my hands.
The idea of being a neutral on the dreaded tribes of objectivist/subjectivists really appeals as my observation is that those who espouse either ethos as theirs are far from open minded. Before I encountered HiFi forums the notion of either camp did not figure in my thinking and I would prefer it remained that way.
Recently I have been exploring HiRes music and currently trying to discover if there is one Music player that offers better rendering of music than VLC my current adopted solution for playing FLACs.
I'll probably post to one thread then slowly fade away.
Thanks again for starting a forum without much agenda or rules

One thing I cannot see how to do but find useful. I see there is a recent posts menu item at top of page but where is the ability to go to the latest (since last visit) post within a thread? Thanks

Under the Banner next to home Alan or if just want to look at threads you posted press participated top right That link shows each thread in descending order of last post to the thread. What I am looking to use is the last post within a thread. It may takes you to last page or the page before - wherever the next post since your last visit is. On AoS it is the green Two pages Icon to the left of the thread title. On PFM it is a green ish square to the left of the thread title. Maybe Mike knows what I mean. I find it useful to catch up what has happened since my last visit. I'll leave my post in place - I was being dense The New Image is what I was seeking. Now we are motoring

I had the same problem
Click on "NEW" on the title and it takes you to the newest post that you haven't seen.

Hi Alan, welcome to TAS from me too There's another way that might get you closer to what you were asking for: When you have the list of threads look over to the right hand (last post) of the one you're interested in and it will say something like 'by mikemusic 10 minutes ago' If you click on the blue area around the words (not on the text - that will take you to Mike's profile) you will be transported to the last post on the thread. Good luck!

Hello Alan and welcome to TAS. We do have a few rules, but hopefully no-one will find them onerous.
No objectivist/subjectivist stance here, so join in!

Hello Alan and welcome to TAS. We do have a few rules, but hopefully no-one will find them onerous. No objectivist/subjectivist stance here, so join in! Martin Thanks for your thoughts. Your enthusiasm on AoS for Mains Regeneration stimulated my interest though I went for a less exotic solution than your PS Audio with a Power Inspired AG1500. Now that did make an audible difference and ensured my system was not time of day (mains loads) dependant. It's late night listening all the time now. My experience elsewhere has made me very uncomfortable with those who espouse either end of the subjective/objective spectrum and I am in danger of saying something I will regret. Shared experiences with different kit should be useful though.

Great that you've discovered regeneration, Alan. I think that, for a given level of equipment, it makes sense to see a regenerator as a necessary additional component in any system. Our mains quality is full of distortion and simply not consistent enough.
My incoming mains distortion right now is 2.7% THD.
