I've just upgraded from 802.11n to 802.11ac and am quite impressed with the difference.  I bought a BT Hub5 on eBay for £15.00 and one of these from Amazon for about £17.00.  I'm now averaging around 49-54 Mbps up from 34-39 Mbps.  on B.T. Infinity 2 with the hub downstairs and this computer upstairs.

Has anyone else made the transition, and did it work for you?
