Look at the end terminations, though. It's not that big in terms of gauge. Sometimes I think these things play into the American market where bigger is better!

You're right about the terminations my WBT spades or bananas are probably bigger than those. Spades and heavy gauge cables are a pain as you really have to wrestle them into position and even you think you've tightened them completely off one pops My custom built heavy copper bi-wire speaker cables are probably the ultimate expression of solid core cooker wire! If anyone has a spare set of 8 WBT Banana plugs they would sell me I'd be interested

I can't possible think why they are that size, what technology have they used that requires this size. Have they threaded copper wire through the shaft of scaffold poles or something.
