My Superlux HD668B (with the inserts removed) give great performance for not much money. I am not a regular headphone user, but they're always handy for private listening and deep analysis. Showing the 668B with my Sansa Clip+ dangling from it...I also use Soundmagic E10 earphones on the move (not my photo)...

I had a few headphones in the past HD600 with Cardas Cables They gave a amazing insight into music with the cable mod but my headphone amp did not have enough drive to get the best out of them AKG 701 very balanced not as detailed but faster than the HD600 Had a few others too Never found headphones I wanted to live with

Gone through quite a few pairs, but currently happy with my Sennheiser HD 598's, which work a treat off my iPod, with the help of an 18v portable amp that I picked up off eBay for £40!

I also use the Soundmagic E10's on the move, as well.

I recently discovered the E10 IEM as well. Really good. Some of my other 'phones ... Beyerdynamic KT-150 - my 'serious' phones B&O Form 1 - surprisngly good if you whack up the bass by 10dB! And now-departed Yamaha HP-500. and also ... B&O U70 orthodynamics ...

I've had a few. In no particular order as I can't remember it; HD650's / Slee - detailed and lush but left me wanting Stax - great speed and dynamics, bass light. AT woodies - okay all rounders, bit coloured Beyerdynamic - good bass but lacking else AKG 701's - good detail and very clear, average bass, not that comfortable for long periods.
Summing up, none of them come close to the enjoyment I get from my main system.

Musical Fidelity MF-100 'phones have been running in for a couple of days on repeat. Horribly squally and bright and bassless to start with, they are now getting better balanced. I suspect they need another 48 hours or so to properly settle in. Bought ex-dem on ebay for a pittance. I think these are going to be good.

I didn't realise MF made headphones.

^^ Hey, Paul - is that one of the little east European cheapo valve headphone amps I was going on about a while back?
You like it?

Yup, the very same Jerry. It's quite happily replaced my Graham Slee Novo, which will find its way to eBay when I can be arsed.

The 668bs really benefit from a set of velvet pads(thomman do them for AKG 240s -fit the superlux range) the 330/440/660 are all excellent with foams removed.Proper hifi bargains and well worth trying depending on what yer after-open/semi/closed.
Stans Capella HPA will give a proper stab at top notch headphone amplification for reasonable money-battery powered for even more performance for a few quid.
I still have deep satisfaction with my senn 650 and 700s-aint cheep but worth every penny and keepers.

Koss ESP-6(Image pinched from elsewhere.) Big, heavy, hot and uncomfortable! They get little use, as in general I don't like listening with headphones for extended periods of time.

Paydirt! - at last. I've been trying quite a few closed back 'phones over the last several months. Many good, some very good - but didn't turn out to be keepers for reasons of comfort, sound, sound leakage. But these arrived this morning and it's BGT - Big Grin Time. They have it all, for me. Fantastic openness, clarity, dynamic clout, bass depth, neutrality. Circum-aural, and very comfortable. But they are a bit red. PSB M4U 1
