Canon Canada have a DSLR simulator website that allows beginners to learn the effect of adjusting the basic settings on a camera. Canon: Outside of Auto
First of all there is a little tutorial for each of the basic settings, then you move onto playing with the simulator. You can set it to Manual and from there you can adjust the shutter speed, aperture and ISO settings. You take a virtual snap of a scene and the simulator gives you feedback on your results, making suggestions as to how to make improvements. You can then save your result with the settings recorded to compare it with your next shot. Additionally, it allows you to select Shutter Priority or Aperture Priority modes. As a final challenge, you can test yourself against the clock.
This is a great tool for anyone thinking of straying away from the safety net of fully auto shooting.

Isn't it great? The master touch is to include the spinning propeller on the plane, I think.
