But I enjoy a more intellectualised approach to this music as well the more emotional approach. It has its own fascination, imo.
I'm not usually a Reiner fanboy for exactly the reason you cite, but it works OK for me here.
Dudamel on DG is well worth a listen, too, with a more emotional approach, but a slightly disappointing opening sunrise (blame the DG recording for that, mayne).
