Hi moofi and welcome from me too ...
I remember going diving in Pembrokeshire many years ago - great wrecks to explore there.
Getting back on topic, what music do you like to play?

Hi and welcome to the forum - so what Focal speakers are you using?, I have a pair of Electra 1028 Be's that I bought second-hand last year and am seriously impressed Oh and Pembrokeshire is sooo lovely, I went a couple of years on the trot with my family as my parents used to rent from a family friend and it was so peaceful and lovely there… pity the friend sold it

My Focal's are older Electra's (936), apparently one of only fourteen pairs that Focal imported into the UK. One day we intend to go for the bigger brothers (my other half likes big speakers), but at the moment we are living on a building site.

As for music, well most things. Currently in the process of ripping my 3000 odd CD's onto a NAS for the second time which isn't a job I wish to repeat. I suppose it is about third classical, third pop/rock and the remaining jazz or electronic.

What a job A task I'm not looking forward to. I might even avoid it completely

Not necessary. Enjoy your CDs for what they are. I have no intention of ripping my collection.

Not necessary. Enjoy your CDs for what they are. I have no intention of ripping my collection. Spot on. As a deliberately late adopter of the streaming idea I've never seen the point of the NAS thing. It always struck me as an intermediate stage in streaming before the live services like Spotify, Tidal, Qobuz etc came along with their vast music catalogues. For the occasional (for me) recording that isn't available from your chosen streaming service(s) then spin the CD or LP. Oh - and Welcome moofi. I've a part-time residence in a lovely part of Wales myself.

I see benefits in ripping the collection. Currently less than not ripping

Double edged sword, the worse thing is always the tagging as there seems to be nothing which is up to the job. I like tidal and Spotify, but I do actually prefer having the physical object as the internet down in this part of the world is not the most reliable.
I actually have a part time place in Bristol, useful when visiting family in the Forest of Dean.

One of the benefits has to be instant collection and play of a track or album I like that
