What are the amps? All we know is who they are made by and that they're black!

I heard it and still can't believe it. Cannot see the logic Magic Tony ! All the kit is now at the same level. No weak points

I've seen these or another in the range in the flesh before, but didn't look closely at them and I didn't realise that the bass driver arrangement was quite so unusual. This is copied from canadahifi.comInteresting

Thanks for finding that Chris
The bass sound is special.
I shall shine a bright light in that lower port and have a look.
The boss heard the system seriously for the first time just now. Gustavo's Motorcycle Diaries was very impressive

Have to admit,
When I left Mike on Wednesday they genuinely did sound very engaging, fluid, articulate and musical.
They do give Mike the extra pieces of the puzzle that was missing before, but not detract from the way he likes his music to sound.
Plus Mike has added a few more albums for his collection to.

Update
After asking Tony "What else is there then and how much better will it sound ?" He brought TAD E-1s along
They are rather good, so good I bought them. Surprises me how good some albums now sound
Need to list my recent tale so far as speakers are not where I started ! More soon

I only heard the Reference 1 but imagine these have lots of scale and detail

A surprising jump up, especially considering they are a notch above the rest of the system. More soon in the main system blog

The TADs are a good hike up from how I remember the Quadrals, good move!

Yes they sounded a TAD tasty...
Be interested in how you rate their cdp's - visually they certainly look the part. More so than the speakers which I expected to have a slightly less conventional finish for the money, but if you dig piano black they fit the bill!

Having just heard Mikes significantly improved system I agree totally with Martin and Jules, your system is quite remarkable Mike

The transparency of the system is remarkable for sure.
The only question marks for me were occasionally I found the sound a little too strident for my taste and a touch more warmth wouldn't have gone amiss but maybe that was source dependant.
Just for personal interest, as I know Mike listens to much more digital now, I would also love to hear the system with a really good analogue front end.

In my experience of 4 dems of TAD standmount speakers, they sounded very different each time!
I've heard screechy, bassless, bland and bloody good!
I suspect kit synergy has a lot to do with this. Team them up right and they are exceptional speakers, imo.
