Latest : SWMBO says they are 'pretty' and prefers them with the covers off !
Playing them at the moment rather than *listening* intently

Gosh this would be a radical change for you Throw as much as you can then go back to your speakers and see how much you miss them

Gosh this would be a radical change for you Throw as much as you can then go back to your speakers and see how much you miss them Good recommendation by John, I did the same when I upgraded from my Epos ES14 to the Focal Electra 1028 Be after about a month and wasn't at all disappointed

Been playing the Aurums 99% of the time until yesterday when I realised I had a spare set of Exposure cables so able to set up the Isobariks and Arums on the 2 outputs of the Chord and switch between easily. Bit of a struggle before that.
I like the sound of the Isobariks a lot so it will be hard to change, and hey they are *Isobariks* !
Playing any track on the current system with Isos sounds great
Swapping to the Aurams gives more bass for sure, perhaps too much, (never thought I'd say that !) Midrange has a lot more going on, sounding a little too dry or are my ears/brain in need of education ? Altogether a 'nicer', perhaps more complete sound from the Aurams with the Isobariks sounding warmer
Tony along tomorrow to tweak so more after that

It takes a while to educate the ear with the new raft of detail coming through. You'll then either end up liking it or thinking it's too harsh. That'll be your cue as to whether it's been a successful upgrade.

Playing any track on the current system with Isos sounds great As you know Mike, when I heard Briks at yours, I wasn't quite sure about them - not much bass, very poor imaging etc etc I'm sure these new speakers are head and shoulders above them which is why I recommend you pack up the Briks immediately and send them on a next day courier to me ...

I played with a small pair of Quadral ribbon hybrids for a week or so a bit over 3 years ago for a review. Very nice I thought them. I've heard bigger ones at Shows and liked them there, too. A punchy, controlled and solid sound with goodly amounts of spaciousness and rez. I haven't heard Briks since a visit to Jimmy Hughes' place about 35 years ago! I recall being surprised how good they were. A very different presentation from the Aurums, I'd expect.

Mike - are these new speakers on trial or have you pulled the trigger on them?

Latest after a visit from Tony yesterday. Sound being out not my imagination I'm glad to say. The midrange was off and there was too much bass After listening to my 4 favourite test tracks Tony grabbed his goodie box. First up speaker cables, Coherent I bet. Improvement on mid range, clearer and more detailed, bass tighter. Next up some Townsend speaker stands. Different design and concept to what I'm used to. Floating plates - No spikes anywhere Sounded good though. Improvement again in mid range and more tightening in the bass. coherent-systems.co.uk/used.aspBottomm of the page Townshend Stella Could have been made for the Montans, right size, black, so they must be good and could have been designed in the same place Overall detail may also have improved. But Tony has more tricks up his sleeve for the next visit. Bi wire jumpers for the Montans and back where we started, plugging in Belles Monoblocks - as Tony is certain they will out perform the Chord

Sounds to me like you aren't getting new speakers, you're getting a new system! Did you want that?

Tony's visit yesterday started with a play on the existing set up then his Coherent jumper cables replacing the manufacturer's standard. Martin T has these on his Ushers and he did seem to get rather excited about them. With good reason. Tony put them in and I was staggered. How on earth can some little jumper cables make that difference. This is between the 2 sets of terminals on the back of the speakers, surely minimal effect on sound quality. No, stunning for two lengths of wire, artisan crafted of course. That sort of improvement takes some beating on anything. Now the Montans were set up really well it was time to try the Belles Monoblock power amps again. Previously tested into the Isobariks and found to be no better than the Chord 1200E Now they could stretch out into what the Montans have available. Nice step up in sound quality again. Helps they are black of course ! Big system step up that I am getting used to today. Bass is something special. Everything else also improved. Just when I think I am near the ceiling of what there is .... Should you listen to these speakers or consider them ? Yes. But you need to have the kit in front doing a good enough job for them to work properly.

The BD jumpers are ludicrous and have no right to make such a difference. But even as I was disbelieving it, I was hearing it.
System synergy is everything, it's all about the right combination of components and room.
