Comes boxed. I've replaced the knob with a lovely heavy chrome jobbie which adds weight and makes it feel nice to use. It's a nice DAC but it's not getting used and probably never will be. £50 plus £10 post. Pic to follow in a mo.

Hi Mike. Just a mk1 I'm afraid. Still a decent DAC. It sat around forever before I even tried it. It was great with an iTunes feed form my laptop. I just don't like using a laptop for music. Not even the Beresford could resurrect a good sound from the abomination that is the DV-717 though

Very good price that. I still get emails from customers looking for one of them, or for the Gator PCB upgrade.

It's a really great DAC Stan. I really love one box players, so my only real need for a DAC would be computer audio. Being a life-long PC hater, I just can't enjoy music if it comes from a computer irrespective of how good it sounds. Incidentally I dislike the vast majority of CD players I've heard. Your DAC is one of the very few digital products that's made music for me

I don't Know which Bearsford DAC I have, It has numbers after it rather than called a Caiman. It has had all the Gator mods etc. I bought it as a spare DAC for £90 for times like now when I am constantly upgrading my DIY DDDAC which I must have easily put £1000 into. When I heard the Bearsford DAC I couldn't believe how good it was, and thats just on the regular wayward PSU, I have to admit I was a wee bit gutted that I have put so much into my DIY DAC as the Beresford is so bloody good.

That sounds like it's a 7520 that has been made into a Caiman. You may recall that the first Caiman was a limited run of units with the modifications installed at source for those who didn't have the skill / patience / inclination to do them for themselves.

Mine sold today, but hand on heart I thought it was a really musical product. Stan doesnt shout about his stuff and I'd overlooked it as a result. If anyone is after a two box solution and doesn't want to spend high end money, I can't think of a better choice, especially as everyone says how much better the new one is. It's silly cheap too. Sometimes people, seem to want to pay more in order to feel like they have a decent system. I've been guilty of that myself in the past. Probably still am at times. How else would mine have sat untried for ages.

Transport and DAC. I like single box players otherwise I'd buy a Caiman 2 and be done with it. . My worst nightmare was the DPA PDM 2 and the PDM 1 series 3. A two box DAC with a boat load of wires running between them. Both great items but the wires did my head in.
