Cheers dudes. I'm pretty worried about the sound of this place, its got a pretty wacky layout compared to my last, so it'll either sound food or take a lot of work. I'll have to measure tomorrow and see. I've missed having access to my music a great deal. Check out the mains too ! When we moved here my system sounded rubbish. No comments about LP12 and Naim please MT ! Turned out a major problem was the mains

Better than nothing though.

Yeah I had a go with that, the room is pretty damn lively Mine was when empty. Flutter echo like you wouldn't believe. It's as dead as a dead thing now. It can be done!

And the earth of course, if that wasn't obvious Our earth rod was barely touching the sides of the hole it was in with a crappy bit of cable just attached

Sorry Mike, I don't follow... Mine uses Schuko plugs if that makes a difference?! Assume there is an earth rod in the ground or similar Whatever you have check it is dead solid with a good cable to it, not hanging on by a thread and rusty A test on the hifi, a bucket of water on the rod, then another test is a good trick

Cheers Mike I'll check it out, something I've meant to look into for a long while, now we live in a house maybe i can use it. Got it all plugged in, everything works and isn't damaged which is a small miracle! The listening space doesn't sound half bad, its a tad shouty but no real issues. I turned it up a bit (87db average) and went outside and could hardly hear a thing which is great news, i can finally use it the way it was meant to be - nice and loud ? not optimised anything yet, got to properly align the speakers, clean every contact, dress the cables, rewire my uk mains lead (its all running through one of those awful converter plugs lol), measure the rooms frequency response and that's all i can think of right now. So not much ?

We will need more piccies soon. Why not start a thread in the Blogs section, tell us the story of the rebuilding and optimising?

Ah.... I feel at peace now The rupture I felt in The Force is now mended Loud will help a lot Edit: Dump the adaptors and swap to Aussie plugs. Clipsal straights should be cheap enough out there as they are Aussie, or if your pockets are deeper maybe Furutech or Iego or similar

Speaking of which, isn't it high time you started a blog to cover all your Mana mania?

I can do one for just Mana. The whole thing requires a perfect memory and a brain thingy

Once you've started a Blog, just keep it going. It becomes your personal diary

Yeah I'll get onto a blog, good idea Martin. Got some ideas for upgrades, depending on what permanent job I land here...
Mike, loud is what's happening now. Its great being able to play it as loud as I like, rather than as loud as I dare!
Just did a Dirac measurement, I can't believe how well the behaves in terms of frequency response. I'm a happy lad.

Perhaps we need to do a comparison between Northern and Southern hemisphere sound quality. Shouldn't take too much time Look out for the chunkiness of the cables. Some of these can be a real pain. Selection of screwdrivers as they seem to mix them nicely with flat and philips, sizes. Hopefully no others

Do records rotate the other way in the southern hemisphere?

They do, but no one notices as they are mirrored from the Northern
