Had one when I was a young 'un.
Fancy a one the same. But will I really use it? Not sure.
Not having a mind of my own, thought I'd ask the TAS populous.

You might need a room to set it up long term. I bought one again in my late 20s. It was great fun but I couldn't be arsed to keep setting it up and packing it away. When you're a kid, it isn't an chore. As an adult, I found I'd gotten too lazy

I never had one & I've only ever played with one once. However, it's a bit spooky that you should post this question because I did see something in a charity shop today that made me think about Scalextric. I almost bought it for a present for someone, but thought better of it. Found an image...

I've still got mine somewhere. I'll find it on my big sort out and see if it still works. Had some Revell cars, way faster than normal Scalextric

You could of course check out if there is a slot car racing club near you you could join. Worth a thought..........

When I was a kid I was totally envious of my spoilt school friend, who had a model train layout on a hoist system, so when not in use it could be raised up to the ceiling out of the way. In his case a double-whammy as underneath was a 3/4 size snooker table. As you might guess I spent a lot of time at his house (more interested in the snooker than the trains) !

I had a four lane one, straight the entire length of the garage, all differing curve radius', lap counters etc. Old School no digital. Got the track from a Bootsale and cars from here and there. I had it on a winch up and out of the way, purpose built table. Me and the kids loved it. Had four Caterham 7s (of course) but a Fly Ferrari 512s was the class of the field. Happy days... All sold now:( still have some collectors cars but most went on eBay for good money.

Not many years ago I saw almost identical in a big skip at the 'recycling' centre Tragedy

Looks virtually identical to the one I had in the 70s! Although that box looks slightly older. Started out with the "cigar" cars as in your photo, then moved on to the formula one cars, then onto some saloon style racing cars, like touring car.

I am willing to bet anyone that it would be far more exciting than an F1 weekend. None of this saving fuel and looking after the tyres nonsense.
