I've got to say that my recently acquired copy of The Four Seasons with Salvatore Accardo on violin, makes most of my other classical vinyl sound shoddy in comparison ... The all-analogue recording is just exceptionally clear and vivid, without a hint of distortion, I just love it ... The pressing is flat and quiet. The only thing I don't like is when I can hear Mr Accardo breathing heavily! I will be keeping a very close eye on other forthcoming releases on Fone, because they are all limited edition and not unreasonably priced.

I have a few Fones on CD, they're all good.

If you had to pick just one classical lp to demo your system Martin, what would it be? Albeniz?

Ooh, that's tricky. The Albeniz/de Burgos is certainly spectacular sounding. However, I think the overall most wonderful performance and sound would have to be Strauss Zarathustra Ormandy/Philadelphia on EMI. The opening is mind blowing and the strings beyond sumptuous. A treasured recording for me.

I wasn't expecting that - one for me to check out for sure ...

If you can find the vinyl, Jules, go for it. It is quite magnificent although being a DMM mastering it can sound shrill on less good setups.
