Apparently so. According to some announcement I heard I Asda tonight. Couldn't hear much in the way of details as to why.

If you type "cassette comeback" into Google search, it brings up lots of hits, having read a couple, I remain to be convinced, but here's the Beeb's take on it: www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-35634008

I can't see pre-recorded tapes coming back and blanks are hard to come by. What kind of resurgence? Is it just another fad for nostalgia?
My 18 year old pseudo-step-daughter wants to buy a record player. Lordy be!

Is that a typo in the OP? An announcement about the resurgence of cassette in Asda? Asda?

I quite like cassette. I've got 3 cassette decks! And I've a bundle of pre-recorded tapes that I delve into now and then. It can sound pretty damn fine -- but then I tend to obsess a lot less than I used to.

They have a "radio station" playing in bigger stores (with DJs who would rival Shane Ritchie's latest character in Benidorm for irritation factor). I'd expect some sort of news on the hour, so it was probably on there.

Oh, OK thanks. I get it now..... "On aisle three this evening we've reduced the price of chickens, and in Libya, 3,000 patients were bombed in their hospital beds".

For underground and experimental music cassettes never went away, and continue to be a key format. There's certainly nothing comparable to the vinyl revival here, where established artists and big labels re-embraced the medium. They might flirt with it a bit, but I suspect it will be short lived - tapes are cheap, after all.

Now and again you get announcements relating to the world of entertainment - which I normally switch-off from.
Be as sniffy as you like! The year before last, there was an announcement regarding the growing resurgence of vinyl and giving the market share for it, cd and downloads commenting on the decline of cds at the expense of both vinyl's and downloads increase in sales.
And the Sun-Pat peanut butter was reduced to 89p. A jar was procured. Crunchy. Naturally.

I am thinking they are confused with ADSA the well know typing error and Russian supermarket chain, comrade Cassette just launched in Russia

More than a myth apparently ...
BBC web did an article a while back on a production plant in the US that has seen a significant surge in demand for their pre-recorded cassettes, so much so that they had to take on new staff ...
- no doubt they are now 'sick' (or some such ...)

Why does anyone want a cassette !?!
I used them in the car for many years. CD displaced them
At home I had LPs and reel to reel of various speeds.
Wonder if they will become items to speculate on ? (Surely not)

The text on the cassette compartment door reminds me of someone I was working with recently:
Super hard permalloy head Total shut off
One small change and you've got it....
Super hard dense permalloy head Total shut off
