We've received hundreds and hundreds of them at work today. It's just the latest attempt to deliver a payload by getting you to open the attachment. The spam filters are slow to get to it as it looks legit to them, but by tomorrow they'll 'learn' them and then it'll be something different. Don't judge your IT people too harshly, you don't know how many the spam filters DID catch.
As always, be careful out there and don't open any attachment that you're not expecting.

I get so many "Paypal" emails saying my account has been limited, I always pass them on to spoof@paypal.com Some are so amateurish, it's laughable, but others are a bit more savvy. Today I got a spoof from Amazon with similar wording. They also have a spoof forwarding email address. i got rid of Sky within a fortnight because they were utterly inept. Thankfully I don't have to worry about any emails with their monicker

I use Mailwasher Pro and I recommend it without any hesitation. I use the free version, which is good enough. Once you tag some of the spam emails the program learns how to identify similar threats sent. You can also preview your email within the program without actually downloading it from the server. So you can get rid of all the spam and be left with just the good stuff.

We use a Barracuda appliance since we receive anything from 3-10k messages per day. It also learns and the Sky and PayPal scams have now completely gone. I've just checked and it's caught about 250 Sky messages just this morning!
It should also be said that some of the bigger mail services like Outlook.com have a good learning system via Junk. Put stuff in there that you consider to be spam and it learns from both yours and other accounts. It takes a while and the senders continue spoofing new sender addresses, so it's an everlasting battle.
