I often yearn to live somewhere away from it all, interesting article about a new book highlighting some beautiful locations (if you like that sort of thing!). www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-35227268My ambition is to build a home when I finally settle somewhere, and it will be nothing more than a box, a bit like a loft apartment but on the ground. Uncluttered, not too big and just for me

Gosh that looks cold and isolated Tim A bit to extreme for me but the call of nature beckons too Not to far from Chocolate Hills is my goal. Already got the land

I wouldn't actually like to live where the pictured cabin is, that was just to highlight the BBC article, nice for a holiday though. I picture some countryside and a nice pub within walking distance and no traffic jams!
Bohol eh, when do you reckon you might be there, I could pop over from China? Chocolate Hills looks great John. I do plan to visit the Philippines as I have a friend who has a small dive resort there, near Mandaue City on Cebu. Only been once to the main island, didn't care for that much, but I know there is a lot more to the Philippines than Manilla and its surrounding area. Looking forward to seeing Cebu one day.

Not sure how close I'll get to my 'perfect existence', people and life tend to get in the way of that. I do know I want an eco friendly home, want to grow some of my own food, use as little fuel as possible and recycle as much as I can. Once I have that and can sustain myself without too much hardship, I'd like to give something back, especially to the world's oceans which we are fucking up big time

You won't want to buy a Krell, then.

The thought would never enter my head Martin, I'm not that sort of music lover - I don't do expensive bling as you know

You don't know until you try it! I was referring to the horrible power consumption and heat output, though

Yes I realised that Martin and I know they are power guzzling monsters, but that sort of Hi-Fi is wasted on me, so it'd be a pointless exercise. Give me the money instead so I can buy more music or for the price of a top Krell amp I could probably travel around the world for a year, which I would find much more rewarding.

Me & the missus already have our getaway cabin. In the Welsh hills, not far at all from the Elan valley beauty spot. Excellent hiking and cycling. The coastal walks of Ceredigion are about 1 hour drive away. Nicely isoldated ... I'd be quite happy to have a Big Krell there, though. I do have a fully fledged stereo system in situ for those long dark winter evenings.

The Usk Valley would be one of our ideal spots.

Usk valley - just a short drive from our main abode in Glos - some lovely walking around there!
