I can't decide whether its time to go to the pool, the gym or the bar - or stay here on the balcony reading a book listening to Mindy Smith?

I am enjoying myself so far, still I have 3 weeks here so a few early nights and no booze won't be a bad thing.

Time for an inter-forum punch-up I think. I'm bored!!
See a certain Gordon Bennett over at Hi-Fi Subversive has just forked-out £5K on a pair of the Chinese-built Ming Magnetron XXX speakers. Pretty flash, Gordon. Pretty flash. By all accounts the Mingers are pretty merciless to what they're hooked-up to ruthlessly revealing system deficiencies further back in the chain. This being the case, can't help but think a better front-end would have secured a better outcome for the same outlay: GIGO - Garbage In Garbage Out.
Should have got a new turntable mate. The classic Disco Diva with Yamamoto 250 SL arm and Tamagotchi cartridge, being the obvious. I'd also add The House Of Bamboo Isolator - a better way of spending £250, you'll never find, mate. I'd go for the "It Don't Mean A Thing If It Ain't Got That Bling" chrome-plate livery. Add the full Blackpool HD Rig with UFO Puck and 50 character input enabling a static or strobed display. Neat, eh? Should add the Arthur Haynes' Persistent Power Supply and Paul Newman Stinger Bearing upgrades are Deffos, mate. Deffos. With the new-found information retrieval now to be had, the previous Wharfedale Lintons won't know what's hit them, mate. They won't know what's hit them.
A word of caution, mate: give the wooden platters a wide birth, mate. A say, give the wooden platters a wide birth. They'll warp on ya as soon as your back's turned, mate. Especially if living in vaguely humid regions like here in the North-East. Some real horror stories on the 'net, mate. One poor bugger went for the full Holy Trinity Set-Up with Turin Platter Mat for his LP12 ( the 'Bay is awash with Chinese fakes, by the way. Easy enough to spot. The genuine item has the face of Lord Sugar embossed whereas with the fakes it is just printed.) Had one evening of audio nirvana only to wake-up next morning to find a heap of scrap which the night before had been his pride and joy. The dreaded Platter Mite being the culprit. Even took-out the cover of his A&R A60 for desert. Poor sod was beside himself. And did he get any sympathy from the forums? I should cocoa…
"I don't who you are. I don't know what you want. I don't have your sense of humour, or find you amusing. I do have a very particular set of skills, skills I have aquired over a very, very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you stop taking the p--s, that will be an end to it. I will not look for you. I will not persue you. But if you don't, I WILL look for you. I WILL find you. And I will punch your lights out - MATE."
Good Luck, Sunshine!

Time for some of what Mr Whippy's on! To be honest, I come up with it some years ago - warped platters and all! Weird, eh? I get bored at work and entertain myself. I was going to post it on another forum, but never did.

Well, for £250, I suppose I could knock one up for you.
Should be a set of bamboo coasters knocking about somewhere.
