I have a very nice vintage Pioneer amp which has developed a noisy volume pot , I have squirted it with switch cleaner , that helped for a while but now the left channel keeps dropping out , it returns if I give it a tap. Help!

What cleaner did you use? Servisol 10 cleaner-lubricant is the universal one in service depts. As for a channel dropping out, I've not known a pot to do this, but it could be a dry joint in the vicinity or even a dirty switch I reckon.

Try turning it off and turning the control all the way round back and forth, say 10 times. Sometimes this can work. Othertimes it doesn't.

Maplins switch cleaner also tried an alcohol spray. I'll go and try the 10 times trick and report back.

I had one of those when they came out. What do you think of it? Last year I got a 608 but haven't really tried it. Now and again I look for the matching tuner.

Its in my workshop used with some bookshelf speakers, I've never tried it in the house in the main rig , it sounds fine and looks great . I bought it and the tuner together off ebay , there was a matching Tape deck but I didn't want it , all in stunning condition.

Gosh thank you , Hi-Fi IMO is one of the hardest subjects to photograph , I got lucky with that shot the shaded side is by a window , I'm very much an amatuer. I was trying to take some photos last night of my system lit up , every shot rubbish , I'll try again in natural light.
