i know it's a matter of opinion but !! all my audiophile mates think that 'Graceland' by Paul Simon is a fantastic album , but personally i cannot see what all the fuss is about ?, in my humble opinion "Still Crazy After All these Years" is a much better album musically(songs are more musical) anybody agree with me

I completely agree with your view of 'Graceland'. I think it's way over-rated and yes, 'Still Crazy...' beats it into a cocked hat. However, in my opinion 'There Goes Rhymin' Simon' is the best of his solo work.

Last album f his I bought was Rhythym of The Saints when it was released. Good on Vinyl but less so on CD. I did like Graceland, but will look the other stuff up.

Graceland is excellent musically, with a rich tapestry of voice and instruments. It is very well produced and lyrics are a tribute to the effort Paul Simon put into crafting the work. I have vinyl, CD and a high res version

I'm a big S&G fan but I'm not fussed on any of his solo work.

I think it's a wonderful soundscape, so much so that I bought an album by Ladysmith Black Mambazo (Shaka Zulu), which is also great.

Maybe obvious to say, but I suspect that part of the appeal of Graceland was the fusion of African and Western music. Certainly not the first time this had been done, but probably the most successful. It's a very well produced record IMO, with some great tunes. I can remember it being everywhere back in the early 90s.

It's ok. Never explored it fully after hearing certain tracks.
The best he ever did, with his mate, was Bookends

Graceland is fine but agree Still Crazy After All These years is better. In fact I think the first 3 70's solo albums are the best work and best sounding especially Still Crazy. If you think the original vinyl sounds good try the US Legacy reissue (mastered by Ryan Smith). It's a big step up. Graceland suffers from overproduction to a certain extent and the fact it was done in the eighties with at least partial digital recording and editng.

I like Hearts and Bones. I think "Rene and Georgette Magritte with Their Dog After the War" and "The Late Great Johnny Ace" are stand-out tracks. I like that we all have varying tastes, even when we're only talking about one artist.
