Thanks, Tim, some really handy hints there. I did buy frozen spinach to try and the NutriBullet makes short work of it, you can even add ice cubes. I found I used too much Flax seeds at first, need to dial back the bitterness. Good tip on the bananas.
Do you have a good recipe for Wagamamas' Raw Juice, which I love?

Aye, I do indeed - I make a mean Katsu Curry too 4 carrots, peeled & chopped 1 apple, cored or not, up to you? 1 tomato About 2/3 inches of cucumber 200ml fresh orange juice Give it a whirl and you're good to go - freeze the carrots for a nice cold one.

I'll give you a clue what mine is. This arrived today... Yes, my New Year's Resolution is to work very hard whilst going nowhere. Situation normal then really. In truth, my orthopaedic surgeon suggested buying one, and the missus will use it too. I'll give it till April

Mine are:
1. Don't believe everything I'm told. 2. Don't believe everything I read. 3. Go find out for myself!
As this is the last day of the year 2015 let me wish everyone on TAS, especially the main men big three, Martin, Chris and John, a very happy, content, fulfilled, dreams come true 2016. You've achieved the makings of a good forum, a friendly forum one devoid of human nasties and in fighting... good on yer. Whats left is to laugh a little more from time to time: you'll realise this when you become an ancient like me
I don't spend much time on forums, the number of posts attest to this, as I have alot of living to do away from my PC but when I do feel the need to re-connect TAS is my first port of call. I raise my glass and a toast to everyone on TAS

If you want to blend unwanted iPhones, the Vitamix or Blendtec are the ones you want. NutriBullet is only good for food Blend all i-phones Blend all apple products Sorted...... My NYR's are:- Lose 1+ stone put on with eating and drinking too much and not exercising enough STOP buying toys I don't need (like another Garrard 401 and 2 techies in the last month alone) Rest are business related so potentially sales talk so let's leave it there

But if that person is happy spending all his life tapping away on a keyboard them leave them to it! Happy New Year mate, maybe see you at Bristol?

If you bought a pressure cooker you can have fantastic wholesome veg soups cooked in a jiffy, using pulses too. That's my next best kitchen aid, I chuck everything in, nothing gets wasted and home made soup freezes beautifully. Hi Tim, I'm following your posts with interest and the good lady is also taking an interest and encouraging me to buy some kit so we both can get into this lifestyle. What you wrote above caught my interest. I well understand the benefits of pressure cooking in terms of nutritional benefit and of course, speed of process, but I wonder why you still use a pressure cooker for soups (which will need blending after cooking) when your Vitamix can do the job in one complete and combined process. Please can you explain your thinking/experience here? Thanks.

Quite a few reasons to have a pressure cooker Greg, probably the main reasons are speed of cooking and energy saving (I'm big on saving energy). I don't just make soup in them, I cook curry, stews, chilli, brown rice cooks a lot quicker in a pressure cooker, but as I've cut back on meat and now eat pulses, you really do need a pressure cooker for quick, energy efficient cooking of pulses. I also batch cook, so if I do soup with everything in, it will be a full load, far more than a Vitamix can produce, then I blend with a stick blender and freeze in single portions. Vitamix soups are when I want a quick healthy soup made in a few minutes. They also taste different to soups made conventionally and you use different ingredients for both cooking methods. Curries taste superb in a pressure cooker and are ready very quickly, I also slow cook meals in a slow cooker - each produces differing flavours and as I always cook using fresh ingredients and enjoy a varied diet, I like to use a variety of cooking methods. I make base gravy for restaurant style curries in a pressure cooker, it's a cinch and takes a fraction of the time it would in a conventional pan. I would have a pressure cooker if I just made yellow Dahl soup in it, as it tastes that good - and you can't make that in a Vitamix. All in all Greg, I cook and I cook often and I really enjoy it, so I need the right tools for the job and as I pointed out to Martin when I made the comment about soup in a pressure cooker, it's to do with cooking the pulses. One of the many reasons I use one, but the answer to your question

Tim, I especially like cooking lentils and I also have a pressure cooker. I love them curried and in different styles, one recipe with bacon comes from my mother.

I reckon we are on the same path Martin, albeit I'm a little further down the road, but you'll soon catch up I make a variation of the Wagamama juice recipe, using less orange juice and more tomato, either fresh or juice. I also sometimes add a little fresh ginger and I always add 2-3 drops of Tabasco. You can't actually taste it and it's not hot, but it does give the flavour a boost. If I don't use a whole carton of juice within a day (which is most times) I also freeze that in those Wilko silicone muffin cases, they are brilliant. And frozen juice in veg based smoothies is very convenient as well as ensuring it's cold.
