Whilst researching for data on car engine swaps on Google I came across mentions of Miata, which it seems is a USA Mazda MX-5.
There is a company that convert these with Chevrolet 6.2L engines and 6-speed manual boxes, and it's not as brutal as it might seem.
There is a You-tube series of videos giving a step by step guide as to how it's all achieved. I found it all very interesting.
Part one is here

Look at that - a chassis! Nice, thank you. That's a project I could contemplate as long as the handling isn't compromised.

Seems there is a bit of extra weight (hardly surprising) but the weight distribution front - rear is hardly any different.
I watched all the videos, and others on You tube, and would admit to forming a liking for it.
It is expensive, what with the brand new engine, gearbox, diff, driveshafts and uprated brakes, but what a machine.

That was a very satisfying set of videos which I thoroughly enjoyed. I'll recant and say that it's way beyond my capabilities. I love the MX-5 V8 outcome, he's done a tasteful job with it in a nice colour to start with. Lovely engine, too. It's not as fabrication intensive as Project Binky but good to know that a lot of it can be done with kit parts. Oh, did you see the reference to Bad Obsession? Funny!
