What are the usual inputs being used for TVs now, HDMI maybe, others ?
The time is coming when I will really get a new to me TV. Panasonic plasma sounds best with a SCART input for me trusty old Tivo
and what else please ?

HDMI seems to be the most commo. Many sets now have USB ports too for memory sticks etc.

SCART seems a bit old hat these days, but I'd still want 2.
Other than that I only use HDMI myself.
And perhaps an input for the PC ?
Even a digital output (RCA + Toslink) is good.

HDMI for pretty much everything. If it has optical or coax out, you can get great sound through the Caiman-II as I do.

HDMI for the Blu-ray player and the 5.1 amp, HDMI plus USB for the Chromecast and USB alone for the LED backlighting here.

You might have more problems getting one with SCART these days. I personally wouldn't limit myself to plasma as that's getting rarer these days. Consider also whether it has decent internet capability (Netflix/Amazon etc). and finally - unless you're going to connect it to the hifi or a soundbar make sure you listen to it - many otherwise good TV's have dire sound.

Surely there is such a thing as a scart to HDMI (and/or vice versa )converter?

Very few plasma TVs left since both Panasonic and Samsung discontinued them. I like my Panny plasma a lot but will be going for a 4K OLED set next. The LG looks superb.

Good to hear they kept one SCART Maybe I can buy newer, but still prefer plasma over LED and LCD - from everything I've read No point just reading about it - you need to take a look! - there's plenty of lcd/led/etc that are just as good as plasma (and as said above, plasma is gradually disappearing). When I replaced my TV the new led screen was much better in most respects than my old plasma.

Assumed the tech for each was too far removed Didn't expect that at all. Must be an issue for lots of people then. Great news. Thanks

Obviously the picture wouldn't be as good as a direct HDMI to HDMI connection but it should be reasonable
