Ive been off work the last week with the worse flu i have ever had in my life, now the Flu has turn into the start of what seems to be another episode of Pleurisy. The last time i caught that was around 13 years ago & i remember that i truly thought my number was up.. The Doc has put me on a course of Anti-biotics anyway as a precausion. All my Manager can go on about is: when am i coming back! He does not give two hoots about my health all he cares about is getting his jobs done that the rest of his useless staff cannot cope with, they are useless because im sick of carrying them tbh.. This sickness has really knocked me to the ground especially now. As i was no where near ready for christmas before catching it, i had a load of jobs to do: painting, carpet to lay in the main bedroom etc etc all that wont get done now. All the nastiness towards me from people thru the year just got me thinking while ive been laid up in bed the last week feeling sorry for myself watching Columbo on TV I don't do anything wrong to other people, I'd help anyone out, give them my last penny if it would help out but yet i always get treat like shit. So my thought are this before the New years resolution even comes around. 1. Why bother with people anymore, go back to looking after myself & lead an hermitt lifestyle again. 2. Get someone to deliver my notice at work while im sick as i want nothing moe to do with the company i work for 3. Just carry on thru Christmas like nothing is happening

When you have flu you have flu. I've heard pleurisy is awful. Take it easy.
I just had a cold that I thought I would burn through in 2-3 days like I normally do. No such luck. It got worse on day 3 and I'm still coughing 3 weeks later but at least I'm sleeping through the nigh My lower back is now locked up, assume due to all the coughing.
My stepson beat me. He had a bad cold with violent sneezing fits. Drove his car off the road and wrote it off.
I'm carrying on and rationing work. Easier for me as my boss is in the US and doesn't talk to me that much !
Get better soon !

I replied to this about an hour ago, but the reply seems to have disappeared.
The essence was 'don't do anything hasty' - having been in that situation myself I know how things can look at the time, but a major decision is best made in a less stressful time. Therefore #3.

1 . If you are well off enough and this is what you'd like to do.
2. If you can easily get another job.
3. If 1 or 2 are not feasible .
Only had flu twice , its a bad scene.

Andr'e, I know how bad things can be for you. Different issues but I swear you're not alone! The proper Flu is horrible and really does drag you down and all I can suggest is that you wrap up warm, see if you can have a hot toddy or two to ease the symptoms and tell your boss to back off until YOU'RE well enough to come back to work. I say this because an old friend of mine, a former Police Traffic officer, was soaked through to the skin when dealing with an incident many years ago. he caught the Flu because of it, but went back to work too early. It brought on Type 1 Diabetes! Maybe he was going this way in the normal state of events, but his bout of flu accelerated the onset..
Keep your chin up sir. I'm sure we'll do everything to help you that we can on here to try to keep you cheerful.

Hope you have a speedy recovery, Andr'e. You are clearly worth more than what you're experiencing. I'd be setting the work colleagues straight about how you feel. If they show some understanding, then maybe you can be a bit more appreciated. If not, at least you'll have let people know how you feel and how their behaviour has impacted you.
Sadly, the least sensitive people very often tread all over those with more to offer the world. It often comes as a rude shock when someone gives them a wake up call.

What everyone else said. Never make major decisions when you're drunk or sick.

I've had pleurisy and feel for you - to be honest I thought the end was nigh as well and almost gave up smoking ..... (that's how bad it was)
I have also worked for some first rate turds with as much sympathy as Pol Pot on a bad day .... nevertheless I'd opt for 3. and fcuk em all !!
