Looks like it communicates with your PC/phone/whatever wirelessly via an app. No plugging in needed. You can get pretty much the same thing with a phone app at almost no cost!

I believe you have to wear it.
Assume that's not so easy with a phone/attachment

I've had a Fitbit ONE since June and have found it to be a great motivator - I do 10,000 steps nearly every day and have reached over 34,000 in a day, which is 24km. It has helped me lose quite a bit of weight, but mostly improved my fitness level and general wellbeing. I have also changed my diet considerably this year, eating 'clean' and dramatically reducing my meat content. I have not gone vegetarian, but rarely eat any meat during the week. I also bought a Vitamix blender and have discovered the health benefits of green smoothies and have never felt better, not since being a youngster that is and I'm not a youngster anymore!
I looked at all the trackers available and choose the ONE due to it's small size and also the on-line dashboard interface, Fitbit does what I need more than the others. I didn't want to wear a tracker on my wrist either, so the ONE is perfect. I have turned all the gizmos off on the tracker and a full charge lasts me over 2 weeks, you also get an email reminder if the charge is running low. I also have an app on my phone and tablet, but probably use the PC on-line interface the most for logging data. I thought about the many free phone apps, but that means always having the phone in your pocket, which I didn't like. Fitbit is also reportedly more accurate than phone apps. I also like to track my sleep patterns, which it does well.
Best fitness motivator I have ever owned and I will continue to use it for the foreseeable future - I wouldn't be without it now to be honest.

I used to cycle to work when I worked at Ford Woolwich Plant and lived in Dartford.
Only a young,an at the time so kept no track of British summer time or anything like that.
Used to get to work in cycle gear all sweaty cause it's a fair distance, walk into empty office put bags down go to works shower room have a shower and walk back into the office changed for office work about 10 minutes before everyone else started rolling in.
Until that morning I didn't change my clock and first thought "they've all come in early to catch me out!" The paranoia of youth!
Looking back you get away with blue murder when you're young. They sent me to Dagenham for a spell. Day one arrived at Ford ferry south of Thames just in time to wave it off. Stood there with my bicycle watching last ferry cart last load of Ford workers to Dagenham. No mobile in them days. Find a public phone box, ring new boss, get a stuffing and threats of a size 11 up my jacksie (Ford was a very tough all male environment). Was about lunch time when I finally found my way round the long way.
Next day? Only missed the ferry a second time!
How I kept that job I'll never know.
Now as a mature competent human being, I always cut the young slack in these situations, and often tell them that story. It works better to be human and have understanding of e human lifecycle, than threatening a kick with a size 11 for every misdemeanour.
In those days at Woolwich, just two women on the whole plant of 500 or so, and they were the only two female office staff. These days the way they were treat would be grounds for huge compensation. I'm not a women's libber, hate most feminists as they have gone too far the oth r way and are generally men haters. But the way women were treated in the workplace at that time was shocking!
on the other hand when a little later as a despatch rider one Christmas I delivered to an all female staffed factory and I feared for my life. I was near enough raped, but not quite. The boot was on the other foot. I know another guy that in that situation was stripped and actually masturbated very roughly!

I would enjoy being within cycling distance but that, for me, is way less than 28 miles each way. However, there are shower facilities and such at work that would make it easy.
No, I'm not moving closer to Ascot!
