I had planned to downsize my vinyl source, but the best laid plans etc. Anyway, my lovely newly acquired Angle Audio 'stage is up for sale. It's for lowish output MC cartridges. It doesn't quite have enough gain for my very low output 0.23mV Linn Asak, but I'm sure it would be great for carts in the region of 0.5 - 1 mV output. Excellent condition, comes with various foreign type mains plugs adaptors as well as one for the UK. Billy Bargain at £80 inc UK del. A bit more for foreign parts.

Just thinking out loud Jerry. The op amps may be adjustable for gain by changing resistors. if this is the case, and bearing in mind the Asak didn't used to be particularly low output by the standards of the type (from memory), I'm wondering if a future owner could have the gain tweaked? Since Angle Audio are very local to me, I've been meaning to make myself known to them, but haven't as yet. Good luck with the sale P.S. Always difficult with external phono stages I think. You have two problems, overload on the input if sensitivity is increased to bolster output and conversely, enough output (keeping input overload high) to drive a modern system, as old tuners and tape decks were around half a volt I think compared to a CD source at four times higher. Topic for another thread methinks and I'm NOT trying to crap on this one.

I've seen Linn Asaks rated as 0.23 and 0.25mV output, Dave - which is pretty low. Most MCs are around 0.5mV. The Angle stage should be good for most 'low output MCs'.

Ok. We just plugged 'em in either to SUT's or 'typical' MC stages and never really had an issue to be fair. Mind you, as long as hiss wasn't too much of an issue, I suspect an under-driven MC phono stage would just output the same as a typical tuner..
